Mrs. Moneydummy is victorious--she and her family have "slain the beast" of eating out. I always enjoy Moneydummy's posts about debt reduction, but this one is even better than usual.

Boy, this is a great post, and a hard one for me to follow, as far as the "no eating out" goes. We try...but we live nearly an hour away from any real shopping area or any other kind of service, and whenever we have to go to town we almost ALWAYS eat out. And Mrs Moneydummy is right....it rips a budget apart!! (Especially with 5 children!!) But I've been making a huge effort lately to say "No" to almost any trip away from our home/hometown so that we can save money on the eating out stuff, and the gas, too. I've been pretty proud of myself for the progress I've made in the past 2 weeks, but it's a hard habit to break, and sometimes we just simply have to go to town, no matter what. And when my husband and I talk about how it was when we grew up, we remember that neither one of us ever really ate out. Life sure has changed!! I'd be interested in knowing how other ladies handle mealtimes when you are away from home. Susan

Some of us don't have that beast to slay!
I am confounded by the amount of money people have lying around to eat out like that!
We go out to dinner twice a year. That's it.
I have family members who "save" money by ordering in instead of eating out. For crying in the cornbread.
