Out of juice

I've had to stay off the computer because a breaker keeps flipping. We couldn't figure out why, so we had to call in the experts. Luckily I could use my Smart Discount Card (sold by the school for $5 apiece). It took $20 off the $59 service call! Now why can't all school fundraisers be that useful?

I've never heard of a Smart Discount card, but what a clever idea for a school fundraiser! I like that idea much better than wrapping paper I'll never use or candy I have no business eating!

Let's not forget all those candles that get sold as funrasiers as well! I like the Smart Discount Card as well. Glad to have you back on line. How is the walking going?

Our church youth group is selling car wash coupons to a popular local car wash for $10. The car washes are about $15 normally. But the church gets $6 (I think) out of each coupon. a LARGE amount. So if you're going to go to the car wash anyway, it works well.

Another thing they did to earn money to make sure everyone could go to camp. (Ie for scholarships for those who could not otherwise afford to go) is form "Work parties' and go over to homes to do jobs at them -- building a shed, cleaning up a garden. Big jobs that require a work party. Then the people at the home pay the youth group for their work and it goes into the scholarship fund.

These seem to be working much better than traditional fund raising.

Another group in the church runs a coffee stand before church and between services. That seems to be pretty well attended as well.
