I found a lot of forgotten items when I organized the cupboard.
One of them is still a mystery. I picked it out of the free box at a local thrift store. I think it may be some kind of gardening gadget or plant-starting tray.
Any ideas?
UPDATE: turns out these were extra trays from a
Magic Aire 2000 food dehydrator.

is it a tray for a food dehydrator?
My mom used to have one when I was little...I think we used it to grow sprouts.
It looks like a couple of trays out of a food dehydrator?
Yes I am sure they are dehydrator trays - I've just been to have a look at our one and the trays are identical.
They are trays for the Magic Aire 2 electric dehydrator. I have one. On the bottom the address is Magic Mill.. Salt Lake, Utah. Since they sell extra trays you might be able to sell these on ebay if you have no use for them. The tray insert with the smaller holes is for smaller things, like raisens that shrink so much in drying.
awwww...I was going to go with the "sprout starter" too. It looks rather similar to my mom's sprout starters, so maybe it could do double duty if you're interested in alfalfa sprouts...
Thank you!
I can't find any sprout starters online that look like this. I think it may be a dehydrator tray that was USED for sprout starting! I never found a manufacturer's name on the tray, but upon closer inspection, I did find hundreds of tiny dried wisps, which I think were pieces of sprouts.
When I said the name of the dehydrator was on the bottom I am sorry, I did not explain the trays have no name on any of them, the name apears only on the bottom of the bottom unit which houses the motor and fan. This part is also thin like a tray. Mine has 10 trays like the ones you have and a solid but vented lid... and the address is Salt Lake CITY..sorry I forgot the City! I got mine at a health food store many years ago. I use it a lot. I have seen them for sale pretty recently though.Still Love your site..thanks for the good work!
