Just Checking In

We have 1 hour left until we wrap up the hottest yard sale on the face of the planet.

All but 1 of our large items have sold. People are getting bargains, and we'll move less stuff back into the bedrooms.

It's a beautiful sight.

UPDATE: Not only did we sell the last big item, someone also bought the Volvo wagon, on which we stuck a sign at the last minute! The yard sale was officially worth the work!

I'm glad yours is going well. We got rained out this morning! Unfortunately, we had to take everything to the thrift store since we have company (lots of it) coming Monday morning and no place to put the big items that didn't sell.

Yea - doesn't that feel so great! The hardest part of the yard sale is looking at all the left over stuff and thinking....what should I do with it. :) (GW)

I wish I had the energy to do a garage sale. It is so hot here, today 103, that I just can not mess with it. I am going through stuff left and right. After 20+ years of child care I am cutting back on the number of kids I keep and so I am getting rid of a lot of good 'day care' supplies. I am giving it away to friends in my day care association. At this point in my life I would rather have empty space in the house that all the boxes of toys, books, and puzzles etc. Hope that everything goes well with you. I am sure your mother in law and father in law will love spending time with the kids. Blessings. Roxie

Good for you! After downsizing I need to clear out the garage so--later on--if you have any tips on how to organize/price/display for garage sale I would appreciate it. I'll also look in archives and your tumblr.

Yay, I'm gearing up too!

We rarely have anything leftover - just GIVE IT AWAY toward the end!

Good job, Meredith!

I've been reading almost every inch of your blog for 3 days now! I love it. I just wish I knew where in TN you lived. I live in Knoxville. I bought a pair of hot pink Liz Claiborne mules today for $2.50 at a yard sale. I have a hot pink blazer that they will just go perfect with! I may post them on my blog. I'm very new to blogging, and only have a few posts, but I'm getting great ideas from all you pros! Keep it up.

that is too bad the weather was so hot, that happened to us about 5 years ago and I have not been enough to have another one.

Yay! about the good deals for the shoppers and the clearing of the clutter for you.

I'm hoping it was "hot" in terms of sales, not temperature! How great that you sold all your bigger items (even your car!)
