Take advantage of free gift wrap

Cracker Barrel stores do a great job bagging & bowing at no extra charge.

I shopped well after dinnertime so they could wrap a couple of gift cards and ornaments with no wait.

Most Borders stores have free wrapping, too!

I love to hit the Cracker Barrel stores when they have a side walk sale. Many a cute item for very little money. They will still gift wrap it free. I have got some very cute t-shirts for grand children for a dollar there. Roxie

You know what sounds the most fun to me, as a mom, about doing something like this?? It's the sneaking out after the dinner hour, by yourself, and going to somewhere fun and pretty by yourself for just a little bit! I always love it when I have something like this that I "have" to do, and I tell my husband that he has to watch the kids while I go and do the errand.....we both usually grin, knowing that I'm fooling no one, and that I actually can't wait to get out in the van and "run away" for just a few minutes!!

I'm so with you on this one. It's good to look for pre-wrapped gifts as well. I purchased a nice wooden clock for my daughter at Pottery Barn Kids, it was already wrapped and ready to go. With 23 people on my list, sometimes I need a break from wrapping all the gifts.

Good tip Meredith. I'm with Susan! Maybe that's why the homemade and shop-online or catalog wears me out--no secret getaways....

As I've been getting teacher gifts at school I've been evaluating the wrapping that's reusable after the opening, combining tissue here, a bag there, ribbon here and putting them together (the tissue in the bag and the ribbon tied on) to make it easy to reuse it with it all there together. Kelly

Wow that's great to know. I need a nice little something for someone--that could save me some time as I've got alot of irons on the stove right now. :)

Well, you know you're not going to get much shopping done with kids running around the Cracker Barrel! They have great toys there.

Our neighborhood Cracker Barrel is open until 10 pm, so it worked out well to put the kids to bed before leaving.
