Merry Christmas breakfast!

Uploading some photos while we wait for guests to arrive.

If you don't have anywhere to go this morning, won't you join us for breakfast?

I lay a simple buffet on the kitchen counter.

A treat: smoked salmon, reduced in price at Harris-Teeter.

For the vegetarians: an overnight Green Chile Strata, made with day-old French bread cubes.

Gifts of cinnamon and banana bread: saved and thawed from the freezer overnight.

No Christmas is complete without homemade sausage cheese balls, courtesy of a Jimmy Dean coupon deal.

Have a seat, and I'll finish cutting up that pineapple from Aldi.

Merry Christmas! Let us rejoice and be glad!

Merry Christmas - your breakfast looks wonderful! We feasted on Swedish Tea ring - made yesterday and warmed/decorated this morning, bacon and fresh fruit cup! Very simple but enjoyable! Yummy! Your son's yule ingenuity inspired me to make a from scratch Yule log for our 'Happy Birthday Jesus' cake this year - I decided on pumpkin roll with cream cheese icing and it was quite a hit! Mmmm! So many treats!
May the Lord bless your sweet family with the joy of His presence this Christmas!

Looks delicious and elegant. I bought a 99 cent pineapple too and it was so delicious that it made my Mom's wonderful pecan pie wilt in comparison.

Merry Christmas, Meredith!

Wow, what an incredible looking meal.

Hope you show us how you did Christmas on a budget for your kids this year. I have a 2 year-old and this was our first year giving real presents. I think I did well with a homemade play-kitchen ($20), picture book($1 thrifted), and PJs ($7 on sale), but of course the grandparents went overboard...

Anyway, happy holidays to you and your family.

I'll second that notion posted by the annonymous commenter....I'd love to see what you got the kids for Christmas, because it always is pretty remarkable and inspiring. I think 1/3 of the total stuff we got and/or exchanged over the past few days has to go back....Sigh, I think that the deep dish baker you and your mom found a few weeks ago at the thrift store, and the chair that Roxie found yesterday at Goodwill, end up being the VERY best gifts of all!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I really love to visit yours-always so inspiring. For our buffet brunch this morning we enjoyed an egg strata, fruit cup, cinnamon streusel muffins (mix on sale a few weeks ago), and a punch made of various juices blended together. We also arranged some of the gifted goodies on trays and set them on the table, with my FREE poinsettia as centerpiece. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Meredith.

Merry Christmas Meredith!

I have been thinking of making a strata for Baby M's baptism brunch on Jan 11, but not sure if I can pull it off (never made before). Or I might do quiches made ahead.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!!!!

Ahh, yes, I served the Jimmy Dean sausage balls as well, but mine were crunchy to the crisp on Christmas Eve. I turned the oven off, but didn't take them out...oops.

Care to share recipes? I'd love the strata and cheese/sausage ball ones! Everything looks lovely! Love the Big Lots dishes, did you buy them this year?
Happy Holidays to you!

If you click on the highlighted Green Chile Strata in the post above, you'll be taken to the recipe.

I would give it a 6/10, but my husband thought it was the best breakfast casserole I've made. I reduced the amount of cheese, though, because I was using so much in the sausage balls.

Basic sausage balls:

Blend 3 cups biscuit mix (I make my own) with 16 oz cheese and 16 oz bulk sausage. Form into 1 inch balls and bake 350 for 15-20 min.

I usually cut the biscuit mix in half to make them lower carb for my husband.

Forgot to add: that's sharp or extra-sharp cheddar for the cheese in the sausage balls.

Christmas morning was a blessing at our home too, Meredith!
I made a homeade breakfast casserole - sausage, potato, 7 eggs, onions, peppers, rosemary and garlic poweder and shredded cheese - milk - baked it - done in 40 minutes - enough time to have a family prayer and open presents -
My mom's visit has been the most spectacular of all - with a foot of snow and stuck inside for 4 days, it has been a godsend blessing!
From your pics, your christmas was blessed - your table is always prepared and I'm grateful for you and the wonderful ideas ou continue to share with your extended sisters across the continent!
warm wishes for a continued blessed holiday season,
latrice (working (and happy) mama in the nw!)
