Backyard tourists

We traveled north for a fun cookout with family.

Thank goodness, the kids burned off double-helpings of ice cream and brownies before riding home.

Don't you love these new fountain play areas? I've learned to keep a change of clothes in the car, just in case.

What a great idea to keep clothes in the car! On hot summer days, it would be fun to interrupt errands with a run through the fountains.. for Mamma, too!

I learned at the end of last summer that our downtown area has one of these fountain play areas. We plan to take advantage of some free, wet fun! Thanks for the reminder to keep dry clothes for everyone in the car! I'm putting that on my MUST do list :-)

There's one of those near my sister's home in FL. Amazing fun, and free. That's the best kind. Thanks for your wonderful posts, day in and day out. You're the first blog I check in my reader every day. Cheers :)

Yes, the spray parks are great! We're supposed to have one opening next week on our military post. I'm sure we'll be frequent vistors!

The photo you took is beautiful. It would make a wonderful enlargement.

That is a beautiful picture!

We have a few in town, but only two are free. I find it so frustrating that the city actually charges for use of these 'splash pads!' It would cost us $180 for one summer's use of these pads!

So we make do with the small, small one outside a fire station! [I'm okay with it but the kids are the 'making do' people.]

Were you up my way in Hendersonville? We love our new shopping center - you found the best bargain there - a free splash fountain for the kids! Happy Memorial Day! :)

Meredith that is a wonderful picture. That picture is one I would 'blow up' is size and print. It is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.

Also the idea of keeping clothes in the trunk of the car is a really great idea. You never know when something fun will come up.

Thanks for the blog. It is always wonderful. Roxie

My son loves to play in those fountains. We keep his swim shorts and a towel in the car for those spontaneous fountain sightings! So much fun! It is almost that time of year again!

Blessings,
Melissa

Oh that is a lovely picture!

Okay, what new shopping center in Hendersonville? :~)

Since we moved out to the boonies I do not get up that way very often. I did find myself in Gallatin a couple weeks ago, bought a cattle hay ring from a really nice man up there off Long Hollow.

Blessings,
Kath

Hey, Meredith... I'm pretty sure it's not an ear infection because I'm seeing improvement with all of it this afternoon, drooling, ear hitting, etc.. But I may call the pediatrician if the improvement doesn't last. =)

I didn't know these fountains were widespread! We have a small one downtown and just love it! I haven't heard of them elsewhere, but we live in the north (PA) so maybe the fountains are more common down south.
Great photo, great way to burn off hyper calories!

I've been reading your blog for a while and thought I should say hello. I just love that picture of your kiddos in the fountain. It's just beautiful. The kids look like they're having a ball. Thanks for sharing!

That's great! We have always let our kids take the opportunity to be kids also!! If you can't be spontaneous whats the point!
