Happy birthday to someone special

We celebrate my husband's birthday this week--outdoors, since the weather is gorgeous.

Can you believe these agate swirl balloons cost the same as plain?

We picked up a few party favors for decoration. We can take this guide on our trip. Only 69-cents at the thrift store!

I used my "new" outdoor tablecloth and napkins, plopping a pillow in each chair for contrast. The leaf plates usually decorate the back of Elise's bookcase.

The fruit tart is a happy accident. The ricotta cheesecake baked flat as a flitter, with a texture more like custard. Paper thin orange slices and fresh blueberries to the rescue!

What did you serve for dinner, and how much did you spend? Just curious! I know you did it cheaper than a restaurant!

Beautiful, as always, Meredith! We celebrated my husband's birthday last night. We had an amazing dinner and then ended the evening with some yummy ice cream.

Can't wait to hear about the present!!

The menu:

Mustard glazed pork loin ($2.50)
Fresh green beans ($1)
Wild rice ($2)
Lemonade (.25)

Fruit tart:
8 oz cream cheese
6 oz ricotta
5 eggs
1 cup splenda
lemon
blueberries
half an orange

= about $8? because the blueberries and ricotta were expensive. However, buying a sugar free dessert would have cost even more.

Gorgeous, Meredith. And I'm sure the birthday boy felt very celebrated. I love the way the fruit tart came out looking like a sunflower!

Happy Birthday to your hubby! The decorations and dinner look wonderful! I've done the same with a cheesecake. No one complained a bit. I celebrate my birthday this week too. I'm going to have a special celebration and giveaway on my blog.

Can't wait to hear about the gift!

What a lovely birthday meal! Now really, who says you can't eat well on a budget??? That looks so lovely and it's making me want to attempt to take a bite out of my computer screen.

I applaud your frugality combined with style, very nice!

That cheese cake looks so good. I think it is just right for a light dessert for a meal.

God bless.

Do you have a special technique for your slicing? [I have admired it before.] Or just a sharp knife and ... patience?

And ... what happens if you leak it here? Does he snoop on the blog as his birthday approaches?

Oh my goodness! I spotted those balloons up when I picked Addison up from school. I wondered what the occasion was. Tell your hubby Happy Birthday from all of us!!!
