This just in...

Jenn from Frugal Upstate and I have been kicking around ideas for chat rooms and such, but I've figured out how to do a live internet radio show instead!

I have to make it through this week's wedding breakfast first. Then you and I will try out the technology live on Monday. If I can figure it out, Jenn might be my first guest (hint, hint) the following week.

What do you think? Would you be interested in calling in or listening to a discussion of frugal living?

ABSOLUTELY! Great idea!

I can take that hint :)

I wouldn't have the time (or a workplace to listen to a radio show discretely) to listen at set times. Your wonderful blog is easier for me to read when I have a few spare minutes at random times.

Love it! Unfortunately (or fortunately depedning on which side of the fence you are on!), on Monday I will be sailing in the caribbean... alone with DH.. no kids!! *giggle* I will be eager to get back and check it out later this month. :)

I would like to listen to that.

I would love to listen too!

Well, YEAH! :>

Now I'm NOT promising that I can work the control panel right--just that I'll try : )

And the company automatically records and makes the broadcast available at any time. I will post more information on how to listen live and to the recorded version later. You will also be able to download the conversation in MP3 format.

I would love to hear your voice and listen. Thanks. Roxie

It would be great to have a live radio show, and then also create a podcast for it so people can listen to it whenever they have time.

I never know what the day will bring, but I'd love to listen to the archives if I can't catch the live.

Would this mean you would not longer be posting your "normal" blog for people like me who would not be able to listen to a radio broadcast? If so, then I vote against it!!

Loving the whole blog thing here :) I much prefer to read than to listen!

Are you thinking blogtalkradio? I am a fan of Flylady there.

I think it's a great idea. Definitely something new & different. I'm wondering if you will plan different topic ideas each time or will it be a frugal-hodgepodge?

Anonymous said...

YES if it is blogtalkradio or talkshoe it is so easy to listen to!
Count me in!!!

Are you thinking about a podcast? That I would love as I could listen to it anytime and load it on my iPOD.

I personally HATE the Flylady show broadcasts. I gave them up 3 months or so ago when they had technical difficulties half the time, had this horrible, stupid game of guessing where the person was from based on the area code, and frankly just sounded stupid when they didn't have a caller on the line. Don't get me wrong, I love the Flylady's books and methods, but the radio show - nope! Not everyone can do everything.

It's up to you, of course, if you want to try this. Please don't give up this blog, though. I much prefer reading, checking out your links, etc.

I would LOVE to listen in, love to call in, love to do an interview, love to listen to other frugal bloggers interviewd...just love all around!

The blog will continue as usual.

I just feel like experimenting a little. Yes, I'm going to try BlogTalkRadio.

I don't even have an Ipod, but I do like to play podcasts on my computer when I clean.

I'm thinking this would be a good medium to use with a guest caller, where I can pick her brain about frugal living.

There are lots more moms out there who are more frugal than I am--and I love getting to know their secrets!

We'll try it this one time and see how hard it is and if the product is worth the effort involved.

Sounds interesting. I'd probably listen at least once, and if I can put it on my iPod, maybe more than once.

Just curious. If you were to become very financially successful (like that extreme Amy Tightwad person) would you still live frugally or would you want larger house, top-of-line furnishings, clothing, educations for kids? Just an idle thought. (I know I would hit the spas hard if I could.)

I might listen...if I can figure out how to do that with my computer. I wouldn't call in, though, because I am horrified at the idea of being heard by lots of people. I know lots of people see this blog, but it still feels more one on one-ish(is that a word?) to me. Just please don't give up the blog! I love the pictures!

Y-E-S!!!

:)

I listen to lots of podcasts on my computer while the girls are napping and I'm working cleaning, cooking, folding laundry, etc.

I can hardly wait to hear this; what a great idea!

I would love to listen, as I often catch radio interviews later in the day when I am working upstairs near the computer.

But I am such a poor techie that scheduling, much less figuring out how to actually hear it live, would not be a priority.

And I'm with the post-er above, it will be cool to hear your actual voice.

A conversation based on frugal living would be great. Having to prepare questions ahead of time might get tiresome. Letting the conversation flow could be really cool.

Meredith-
This sounds wonderful! You'll be speaking at Hearts at Home before you know it! I think it sounds like a fun, wonderful idea, and I, too, love to listen to things like this when I am working in the kitchen and cleaning...which is just about all the time anymore! I think you ought to give it several tries before you make a decision, and give it a chance to get off the ground. But I am like the other ladies- PLEASE don't give up your blog. I would miss it terribly!!

Dear Meredith,

Great idea.

ALSO, please be sure to have somone else take lots of pictures of the wedding breakfast. A couple of time you've said you didn't have time to photograph a table before the guests got to the food and I know we are all looking forward to the magic you'll be creating.

LOTS and LOTS of pictures please.

I think it is a great idea! I would love to listen in on ideas as long as you don't quit blogging!

I could see it being fun to try.

I could imagine it being hard to maintain or do with frequency. So it might be really nice if you had archives and just posted if there was a new show, etc.

That way, you could have ultimate editorial sway over the production. I've heard it said by professional interviewers that it takes double or triple the amount of content to get a good interview ready for the air. And I think this is where live shows can get a little laborious!

As they say up here, Bonne Chance!

I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now and just love it. Your sense of style and what you can do on a budget is SO inspiring. I love thrift stores and flea markets...and have always bought used...but after a while I got tired of always having "hand me downs". You have shed a new light on this for me...and have helped me to see that I don't have to forego style when shopping on a budget. Keep it up! I'm going to award you with the Excellent BLog award...when I can make time to sit down and list the winners on my blog!

I AGREE! Please do it but please don't give up your blog! And I think you can put podcast on iTunes for free (oh I so hope you put it on iTunes - makes it easier to add to the iPod to listen to during the week).
