Napkins, madame?

Remember the Goodwill serving dish we debated as a wedding gift? I decided to get the white napkins on her registry, in addition to preparing the breakfast.

Imagine my surprise when a routine stop turned up 2 sets of 8 dinner and cocktail napkins! $6.99 was pricey for Salvation Army, but even less than I expected to pay at Target.

How's that for serendipitous? Pottery Barn was the other place she registered.

Almost miraculous I'd say! I WISH our thrift stores here were that good. Sigh. Honestly, they are just filled with junk.

One of the things I love about this blog is that your finds prove again and again how the Lord does provide. I am so glad that you decided to keep the Armitell dish, because this plus the breakfast is a *wonderful* gift and you get something pretty too!

Another wonderful find! And is it something she will use again and again, which is nice to see.
Great job!

Meredith, Are those cloth napkins? I am thinking they must be but they look like paper b/c of the packaging. Oh, you would not be one to spend that amount on paper. I should know better than to ask. :)

How are the brunch plans progressing? I'm sure you've got the menu set and are scouting for sales as we speak!

I love cloth napkins - but white is too impractical with young children!Ours are brightly colored for everyday, but I have some beige linens for company meals. Your find will be perfect for an elegant dinner. Wouldn't it be fun to monogram them? My sewing machine does monograms but I've never had the chance to figure out how!

I'm really learning a lot from your blog and I am so glad you are taking the time to do some styling for yourself - it just feels better to be put together, and generally I accomplish so much more when I am!
Blessings!

I can not believe that you found those at Goodwill! What an awesome find. By the way, I LOVE the green purse that you bought from there also. So very cute and definitely stylish.

That worked out well!

I do like white cloth napkins--it is easy to bleach any stains from them (I have four boys!)!!

I wish I lived near your thrift stores. You are always coming across great stuff. It is very seldom that I find anything at ours. But, I keep on trying.

Beautiful napkins!

What a great find. Don't you think that using cloth napkins (serviettes in Australia - napkins are feminine hygiene items!)make any meal more luxurious. Even a sandwich? So much cheaper and better for the environment than paper too.
Lovely.

Here are a few benefits to using cloth napkins...

Knocks the meal up a notch from regular to "special" (partly b/c when we use the cloth napkins we are at the dining room table.)

Great item to teach a young child to iron on...small and easy to handle.

A cloth napkin seems to "stay put" better on a child's lap - and covers more of the lap (added protection).

The napkin can be folded in interesting ways - which always adds a bit of fun for the kids.

*sigh* I wish I had your thrift stores. Not enough silly rich folks near me I guess, we don't get much in the way of nice name brand stuff in the package. :(

What a blessing to you though! You deserve all the great finds you get-I know it requires frequent stops and searching!

Believe me, I *rarely* find anything new in the package, much less something I was actually LOOKING FOR!

I know it sounds silly to a lot of folks, but when I stumble across something like this, I have to think it's not a coincidence.

It's not silly at all. I've started praying recently for things we want/need. I've been needing some stuff for storage in my craft room, and I decided to pray about it before even heading into any stores.

I wandered into the new Goodwill that opened up here, and found some beautiful baskets in fabulous shape. They weren't something I'd considered before, but I immediately thought of how I could use them and realized that would free up my current storage system. I bought them for $1.99 total.

I totally believe that the Lord does care about our needs and even our desires. The fact that the perfect wedding gift showed up at an inexpensive price for you is hardly coincidence, in my opinion.
