Cooking while you cook

One of my biggest entertaining pitfalls has been feeding the family while I work. What good are scratch muffins if your family heads toTaco Bell for dinner?

This time, I wised up. I can't promise any vegetables, but at least my family won't go hungry while the rest of the kitchen fills with food.

Poultry in the Crock-Pot....I do it all the time, & it's a lifesaver.

Try to do this the day of the wedding too (tomorrow morning) so you can come home and crash after all your hard work. Crock pot chili and cornbread sounds so good.

It looks so good. I know the family will love this more than anything from Taco Bell. I would throw a few potatoes into the microwave oven and call it aday...

On days like this, I really rely on my freezer meals. I have a whole supply of them to draw on at any given point in time. Everything from soup to chicken pot pie to stuffing to spagetti... I get those portioned tupperware things and fill them with my own made-at-home "TV dinner."

Since we're trying to get pregnant, I'm really boosting my supply for when I won't feel like cooking due to morning sickness... :D

oh yes, this is what my chest freezer excels at!! It was a busy week this week, so two of our meals just needed to be defrosted and heated from the freezer.
I must say, I couldn't decide if that was chicken in your photo or some kind of sweetbread on top of fudge :) What IS that dark brown stuff?

Yum, that looks tasty! I know what you mean. I have fun baking and have to make sure there is a meal cooking on time too. Speaking of muffins, have you tried spooning a dollop of jelly (or sugar free version) into the middle of a muffin? (Fill half, drop in dollop, fill over the dollop). It makes a nice surprise! :)

Smart! I remember a few months ago, I found a HUGE bag of ripe bananas on sale for 99 cents. So, I went on a baking binge. I was so busy saving money by baking that I didn't cook dinner, and we had to eat out! Doh!

That is my favorite meal to do while I am working on bulk cooking. That meal in particular with some rice that I make in the microwave. It leaves my oven free for the other stuff.
