Thanksgiving-all-week menu

We'll be attending a large family Thanksgiving, but my husband misses the leftovers. Last year I ended up cooking an entire second meal. Whew!

This year, I'm planning a Thanksgiving-All-Week menu. Each day will feature one or two Thanksgiving favorites. I have to cook on those days, anyway, so why not spread the holiday love? Saves money, saves time, saves energy!

Monday: 59-cents/lb roast turkey with green bean casserole and canned cranberry sauce
Tuesday: "authentic" Thanksgiving meal with cornbread, dried fruit, beans, baked squash
Wednesday: small spiral sliced ham (99-cents/lb), sweet potato casserole
Thursday: bringing steamed asparagus and cheese ball to family gathering
Friday: fresh rolls for turkey sandwiches and assorted leftovers

For once I have a menu worthy of OrgJunkie's Menu Plan Monday!

I think any menu is worthy! Mine is still in the works, but I post whatever we are planning... This weeks is going to include 2 from last week (no, not because they were so good... but because life is crazy and we scratched them and did something else ~ bonus... I already have the ingredients!)

Blessings!

Sounds like a great plan!

I'm cooking a turkey today, too. I figured that since the stores had them for only 37 cents a pound, it would be prudent to buy one, cook it, pull it off the bones, then freeze it in meal-sized portions for easy future meals.

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing. One of the things I am thankful of this year is your blog. You inspire me to do better with what God has blessed me with. Thanks.

What a great idea to stretch out the holiday favorites and minimize stress and the urge to overeat (please tell me I'm not the only one).
I might have to try something like this over the next few weeks even if we *do* cook the whole meal on Thursday. Knowing that I don't have to either eat all the holiday food on Thursday or miss it will give me the freedom to push back the plate and say, "More stuffing? Nah..."

Meredith, you are terrific! The Thanksgiving theme all week is wonderful. After many years of planning menus ahead for our large family, I've tried to take a break, since our children are grown -- but MY HUSBAND continues to find delight in knowing ahead of time "what's for supper?!" You have given such inspiration! Thank you! Desert Lady

Sounds great to me! Thanksgiving foods are some of my favorites... I think it's the warm memories I associate with them. So I love your idea of spreading it out all week.

And any menu is worthy of posting. Mine this week is terrible in comparison to my usual fairly-balanced meals, but some things have come up. Ah well. A plan of any sort means less trips to fast food places!

OK - this is totally out of the box for me. I have always done the traditional dinner on Thanksgiving. This has given me something new to think about. Perhaps next year - as Thanksgiving is already past as I read your post.

Thanks for the wonderful ideas - I love your blog!
