Yard sale trinkets

We stopped by a neighborhood yard sale this morning, in what had to be the world's most organized home and basement. Fast food utensils neatly bundled for the free pile! Old rope tied with string!

Their lovely home gave me a glimpse into a way of life I know my husband would love. Note to self: work on organizing, even as you haul home their carefully labelled cast-offs.
Picked up a handmade tote in fall colors (.25), a natural wood puzzle (.50), and a Pampered Chef dough roller (.25).
Oh, and a fake autumn branch (.05). We're making acorn people with clothespins later; the leaves will make fine dresses.

  1. Meredith, I was wishing you had photographed that organized home. ha! Wouldn't that have been fun? I can't wait to see your acorn people. Thanks in part to you, we are slowly moving more toward wooden toys (we sell a LOT to get a little wood) and it's so beautiful. We end up having much much less yet they get played with more and look beautiful on the shelf. We're even starting a nature table. I can't wait to see your acorn people! The wooden owl looks so nice! Have you ever found an Ostheimer figure at a yard sale?

  11. A similar dough roller can sometimes be found at TJ Maxx though not as inexpensive as your find.
