Since Andrew's gone on a meat sauce strike, I picked up a box at the grocery. Barilla plus passed the taste test! My mom found some at Big Lots for $1 a box (about half the price of regular retail). Since these are best by January 2008, she bought one box for each week until then.
Barilla Plus is the only pasta we use...it's such a great way of sneaking lentils, chickpeas and flaxseed into dinner! Thanks for the $1/box tip. I never would have guessed they sold it at Big Lots!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love Barilla plus. I use it for all of my spaghetti needs. I am hypoglycemic, so the increased protein count really helps.
ReplyDeleteWas this recently at Big Lots? Might have to make a trip just for it.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will be at Big Lots when we next make out trek to TOWN.
ReplyDeleteJora.
I just saw it at out Big lots yesterday. I stocked up on a few pantry items using their 20% off coupon that's available now.
ReplyDeleteWhat 20% coupon are you talking about...I haven't heard of it! :) I have tried several of the wheat pastas and they stay hard no matter how long I cook them...Any one else had this problem? Any solution? I take it Barilla does not stay hard. Thanks Meredith for passing along the news and the health information.
ReplyDeleteIs it whole wheat pasta? Or just a pasta with extra protein?

ReplyDeleteThis is where you can find the 20% off coupon good until Sat.
:o) Rachel
I have question does it taste like whole grain? Every time I've tried to serve whole grain pasta or sneak in a whole grain pasta in casseroles and every single time all the males at the table go on a food strike.
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to the Big Lots coupon:

Great deal! I would have never checked Big Lots for that- that is a wonderful find. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with Big Lots lately. I found Annie's Mac&Cheese there for 80 cents a box, FruitaBu's for at least half of what my Kroger charges, and our salsa of choice, Pace, for next to nothing. I almost love Big Lots now!!

We have been using Barilla Plus for over a year and love it. Thanks for the coupon link!
ReplyDeleteBig Lots is a definite stop for me now...first diapers, now pasta. Btw, when I bought diapers there, I also found The Healing Garden organic facial moisturizer with sunscreen for $2! I love Healing Garden products.
Now if I can just find and buy some gorgeous ribbon....cheaply!
We love this stuff, too!
ReplyDeleteYay! I was meantioned in your supa-wonderful blog!
ReplyDeleteI feel so cool!
Thank you so much...
Obviously, I need spellcheck on my comments!
ReplyDeleteD'oh!
Barilla is THE most popular pasta in Italy.... and the Italians will know best! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhenever we are in Italy to visit relatives, nobody would even consider eating another brand of pasta.. *lol*!
