It happens

As a young woman I remember visiting my aunt and her three sons. My mother would send me for the vacuum, and I would wonder to myself, "Who lets children eat sliced cheese, let alone rub it into the floor?"

Now I know.

LOL!!!! Oh, the things *I* used to say before I was a mom!!!! We've had the dust buster after chocolate cupcake crumbs AND rainbow colored sprinkles for a couple of days now.

Isn't it funny the things we thought BEFORE we had children? I just had to try to scrub white-out off of my kitchen counter because my daughter didn't have white paint and thought it would work perfectly. I finally ended up using nail polish remover. That is just one of many fun cleaning challenges around here.

Oh yes, amazing what I thought I knew before having kids. They have turned my world upside down :)

Thanks for the picture of "reality." Son is on a playdough kick right now and despite my best efforts to keep it on the play table the dried little bits are EVERYWHERE at the end of each day.

I too had many ideas about do's and do-not's with children before becoming a mama....like you, I'm just grateful that the majority of them I did not speak aloud! Alison

Thanks for making me feel better about my home. I thought I was the only one with an ongoing rug-buffet.

I sure was the perfect mom until I had children. Now...well, there is nothing more humbling than parenthood.

Funny how having children changes your perspective on things!!

Children certainly do turn down the volume on the "arrogance" knob.

I couldn't agree with all these posts more. I was, and still am, pretty neat and picky about keeping things clean, but you'd never know it a lot of days here at my house!! With five kids in a small house that never seems to stay clean for very long,I am WAY more humble about these things now, which is probably good. God certainly uses our children to mature and grow us up, I think. That's why grandparents are usually more laid back than parents....they've alreay lived through it all!!
