Coffee punch recipe

I had to dig out my $3 punch bowl for this retro coffee recipe. Our mothers might have served it at showers in pre-Starbucks days.

It's festive, cheap, and convenient for those of us who only have four-cup coffeemakers.

  • 1/2 gallon milk
  • 5 tbsp. instant coffee
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream (cheap ice cream works great)
  • 2 c. heavy cream, whipped (I usually omit this ingredient)

Combine coffee and milk. Refrigerate overnight.

Unmold block of ice cream in punch bowl at least ten minutes before serving.

Pour coffee milk over ice cream and stir well.

If you use whipped cream, you can fold some into the mixture and float the rest on top, perhaps with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
