I'm scraping the bottom of my picture box. I needed something large to anchor this wall, but the air intake vent made hanging awkward. We hung the leftover small pictures collage-style instead. Though not united by a single theme, they're all original works bought secondhand. I tried to balance heavy frames across from one another, with larger frames at the bottom. The experts recommend cutting paper versions and taping them for a trial arrangement. Me? I take a box of finish nails and start hammering. A few dabs of spackle later are a lot less work.

I actually did the paper version thing, but that is because we have a collage of about 40 photos-all of family and friends hung along our entry stairway. They were all in various frames that I spraypainted black. We call it our "wall of shame" :) I get frequent comments on it when folks enter the house.
