Warm woolen stockings

This week my baby had her first fashion crisis. We shopped Target for an itty bitty pair of baby tights, but they were sold out. I promptly forgot about finding more. Fast forward to the Christmas concert. She is dressed in an angelic smocked Christmas gown (99 cents at Thriftsmart). But her little legs are bare, and there's no more time to brave the crowds in search of another pair.
My eyes lighted on a bag of hand-me-downs. I still hadn't had time to look inside. Yes! A spotless pair of white tights was right on top. My friend Jordana saved the day! Later that night I thought to myself, "I should really keep my eyes open for some secondhand tights. $2.99 per pair at Target is ridiculous."
We stopped at a favorite thrift this morning. I noticed a small sign taped to a lower shelf: "Pantyhose, ten cents." I immediately dropped to my knees and start digging. One pair, two, three...TWENTY SIX pairs of beautiful girls tights in immaculate condition, quality brands like Capezio, in a rainbow of colors and textures. The total cost was less than one new pair of Target tights. What a glorious day!
(Now, I know she doesn't need 26 pairs right now, but they span the sizes from 6 months to age 4. I'm using the Amy Dacyszn method of storing clothes for the future.)

I LOVE it when I find a good deal like this! Good job!!

Once I found a brand new 12 month boys hawaiian shirt for $1.50. The original tag was still on it that read $30!!

i do the same with good tights....because when you NEED them, no where to be found or outrageously expensive...

as well i like some of the nice patterned ones...but they are about 10-15$ each , her dresses dont cost that much...so when i see them i buy them....i have a range up to size 10 and she's a size 6...in the even they dont get worn...well i'm out about a quarter....not as good a deal as yours...lol

take care

What a wondefulf find!! The way kids grow, paying so much for them in the stores is just nuts! I'm so glad that you thought to look down and see that sign. God is truely blessing you at this time. I hope you all get rest and get well.

What a great find on tights! I buy the occasional pair new, but I'm always thrilled when I can find a pair at a thrift shop, because they are so expensive and you never know when they'll trip and put a big hole in them.

I'm glad I put some tights in that bag too. That worked out well. :)

Isn't the Lord so good that He blesses us with even, what others may consider, a minor thing such as tights? He's so good!

That is an amazing find! I am so jealous! I am going to have to keep my eyes peeled next time I am at our thrift store.

I also use Amy's way of storing future clothes. She is so amazing!

I'm still reading through the archives, so obviously this post was from a few weeks ago. How do you store so many different sizes and not forget what you have? I've got two girls, 22 months apart, and I have a few plastic storage boxes full of clothes that are either waiting for one of them to be big enough or that the youngest has already outgrown. But I find that sometimes I totally forget what's there and don't find it until it's too late. Do you have a better system? Any way you can bump this post and give me some tips? :)
