I'm rejoicing in my brand new hair dryer. Don't laugh, but I've been hanging my head out of the car window for months. Why would the frugal woman pay for air? The old hairdryer burned out, we were moving, then unpacking...and finally my husband suggested maybe the kids could get me one for Christmas. We try to reserve practical purchases for the big day, so I agreed.
Girls, that wind is cold in December! I would have been down the street to Target weeks ago had I not suspected THE HAIRDRYER was my husband's only idea for a Christmas gift for me. So it is with great relief that I say goodbye to the bad hair days of '06!
JUST A NOTE: I can't believe people emailed me about this post! I do understand that given the gas prices, hanging my head out the window is more expensive than buying a hair dryer. Please don't take everything I write literally. While I might have gone places with the windows rolled down, I did not drive around my neighborhood every morning simply to dry my hair!!!!

Meredith,
That is hilarious! I can just picture you with your window rolled down cruising down the street. So glad you got a new hairdryer!
Hooray for a good and useful present!
This post just cracked me up.
I went for years w/o a hair dryer (it burned up rather quickly) and we had this mammoth gas furnace in the LR of our tiny house, so we would sit in front of it to dry our hair. Must have gotten the idea from my Mom as when I was a little girl she would have me sit on the floor and hang my head over the heater vent. It worked!
Happy drying! and Happy New Year too!
