Photo of the week delivery

I have added a new category to our budget: photo-of-the-week delivery! This baby's namesake, her 93 year old great-grandmother, is lonely in her new city. Though I've always mailed notes, videos, and pictures, my efforts were sporadic. Now that I've dedicated $8 a month to my budget just for correspondence, I'm sending a notecard with a couple of photos each week. She's thrilled about it. $100 over the course of the year is a better use of gift money than in two big lumps at birthday and Christmas. Besides, it keeps me on my toes about documenting and printing our own family photos, too.

She's adorable!!! :) I do this with my husband's Dad who doesn't have email ... not weekly, but every 6-8 weeks or so I send him a handful of photos to keep him up to speed.

She is ADORABLE!!!! :) I think this is a great idea. My family all live in town but they love getting photos of the kids too.

Stephanie, I used to do one big envelope of photos every few weeks, until I realized that getting mail was one of the high points of her day. Now I think fewer photos sprinkled across the month is more fun for her.

Great idea - I need motivation like this develop photos.
My grandparents live far away and I'm terribly lax about keeping in touch with them.
I have a fat envelope of photos for them from the last 2 years. I was waiting to get the time to put them in an album for my grandparents, but maybe I'll mail them one or two at a time w/a short letter explaining each one!

That's a lovely idea.

Oh, Meredith! What a sweet idea. That is so thoughtful. And how cute is your daughter? I could just squeeze her!

My grandmother on my husband's side is 92-- but we don't have any kids yet. Think it'd work as well with parents of us and events we are doing?

Does this work as "instead of a gift"? Or will she feel forgotten?

OH, no, we still give a token kind of gift. She doesn't need or want much at that age--so having something special in the mail each week is, to me, better than spending a large amount of money two times of the year.

Great idea! I am currently trying to catch up on over 2 years of digital photos not being printed, I used to do a monthly webpage update but this is better idea for my grandmother now living in assisted care. Thanks for the inspiration.
