Hope you are all enjoying the holiday! We spent the morning trying vainly to hang the American flag my brother flew across Iraq in his F-16. Should anyone else attempt such a feat, let me warn you there is no good way to screw a flag holder into a metal column or a vinyl-clad front porch! Next we dressed to please my husband, who suggested matching patriotic clothes. I don't mind the kids coordinating, but we attracted a little too much attention in Sam's Club. Especially when my red print skirt ripped down the side seam as I bent to tie a shoe! Then we went to the pool and cooled off before a traditional picnic of hot dogs, corn on the cob, and watermelon.
You know you're a mother when you eat corn on the cob one-handed while bouncing a baby on your lap.

Meredith-
Happy Fourth of July to you and yours, too! We went to a wonderful fireworks display tonight, and the weather was just gorgeous! Your two children are just beautiful too, and I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday!
