We were countersinking the nails in our new wood shoe molding when we realized our can of filler was too white for the stain. The hardware store sells a product designed to disguise such spots--essentially, grease pencils tinted to various browns--for $5 apiece. My husband spotted the bag of crayons on the kitchen table. Aha! With a little help from our expert scribbler, he quickly rubbed a couple of shades on each spot. Before I knew it, they had the perfect blend of Honey Pine without a trip to the store!

That Andrew is just precious. And I love the pic of Elise howling, though it probably wasn't much fun to endure. It will be great for a laugh when she's older!

I bet that made your son feel great as well, that he could help his dad.
