What's Wrong With This Picture?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This is not a bottle of apple juice, but a high-fructose-corn-syrup cocktail with "essence of apple" somewhere at the bottom of the ingredient list.

Sneaky retailer, who slipped this "juice" in the same spot I normally reach for a bottle--you somehow managed to fool the Queen of Label Reading.

The worst part? I had just delivered a sanctimonious grocery lecture to the little one. He wanted to buy dry cereal because "it would build my muscles" much like the strong-armed child on the box.

We agreed that we would watch out for the tricky colors and pictures together.

Oh, that is very funny. We have all fallen for it at one point or another. I once saw a funny stand-up routine where the comedian was talking about the difference between grape 'juice' and grape 'drink.' It was very funny because of course we all know what he means. It is like on the 'Sunny Delight' commercial where one of the options in the refrigerator is 'purple stuff,’ or how at McDonalds a happy meal comes with an orange ‘drink,’ not orange ‘juice.’ I would say that this little beverage of yours should be labeled as apple 'drink.'
