Easy Way To Wrap A Gift Of Bread

Someone gave us bread cleverly packaged: inside a printed paper lunch sack (25-cents or less) and closed with tape. No plastic needed!

I've always liked these colorful, cheap bags, but I never considered using them for bread!

What a wonderful idea and perfect for a "friendship" gift.

That is a great idea! At Christmastime I like wrapping a brand new kitchen towel around the hot bread so that the towel is part of the gift. That can get more expensive, though.

Very cute! Although I still think I'd put on plastic to keep it fresh. And what kind of bread is that - it looks yummy with the sugar on top!

A student's parent sent me some bread for Christmas in a brown lunch sack, folded on the end and simply wrapped with a bow. Very cute and great way to wrap. Makes me want to keep brown lunch sacks at home.

They are also perfect for homemade cookies, candies, and granola. I do these mostly at Christmas, when I make all of the above as gifts.

Those bags go on sale at Walgreens for 10/$1.00 around the holidays. Some of the designs are generic enough they could be used for any occasion. I have quite a few but never thought of using them for bread. Great idea!

That is clever. I wonder if it works better than plastic wrap. I know plastic wrap cannot be put on until the bread cools. Is it the same with paper bags?

Thanks,
Nate

I usually have an assortment of them here, but I've never thought of using them for bread, either. What a great tip!

I never seem to be able to get the plastic wrap to stick to foil pans!

That's why this bag idea is so appealing to me. I think it would keep the bread fresh enough to be eaten (at my house, anyway).

What a great idea! I always stock up on these after the holiday sales, so now I have another thing to use them for.

I must be living under a rock because I have never seen those bags before! They are so cute. I make bread all the time, so this would be a great way to give it away.
Thanks!

I love it! As I am either taking the bread right from the oven, or letting it thaw from freezer when I've baked in bulk, plastic wrap never works for me either.

Yummy for you and the fam!

I've always loved those bags too!
They usually come 8 in a pack or individually at WALGREENs here -
Seasonal ones go for 10 cents sometimes 'after' the holiday is done! I will remember this for 'cookie' gifts I bake with the kids!

I always use those bags when giving away mini loaves (I fold the bag over at the top, punch 2 holes, then thread ribbon through it), but it never occurred to me to use them for large loaves. That's a great idea!

Thank- you for the reminder of using these kinds of bags. I will have to look through my Easter stuff, and see if I have any. I think I do, and I would love to use them to surprise some friends and family with some type of treat! I love the way you used the ribbon and hole punch on the other post. :)

Blessings, Carla

I'm under a rock too, having never seen those bags either! So cute! I think they're pretty enough for other types of gift giving too, especially if they only cost 10 cents a piece.
