Natural wood doll furniture

What exactly did I buy for Christmas? Several of you have asked.

Ironically, a big bag of all-natural Plan Toy doll furniture from the thrift store ($15). We divided the sets for future gifts.

I'll share more soon. But I'll warn you, I found a "grab bag" of junk toys with the best-ever surprise inside.

My dad made a wonderful wood doll house for my day care children to play with. I did buy at FULL price 5 rooms of those same wood doll house furniture for my house. It has been through many years of hard play and still goes strong. Much better than plastic.
I am sure your daughter will be happy for hours making her doll house beautiful. I use a Little Tyke family to live in my house. (plastic) We make 'rugs' from coasters, napkins are drapes...Roxie

Now I can't wait to find out what you found.
My favorite toy for my son was two Bob Builder trucks that I found in a thrift store for $1. I wrapped them with a new looking Bob Builder hard back I found at a garage sale for a quarter. He loved them and I didn't have to spend an hour unboxing them.

Did you give her more than is in the picture? It seems it would have been great fun to have them all for a really WOW Christmas present. I'm just not good at doling things out, I guess.

Like everyone else, I am anxious to know what your real "find" was!

Yes, we gave her the living room furniture, the bathroom furniture, and the bedroom. Plus the doll family. That was her big Christmas from us.

We really weren't sure if she was old enough for doll furniture at all. She's still not super-interested in it like I thought she might be.

We held back the full kitchen for her birthday. I hope to make some tiny clay food dishes, little napkins, etc.

There is also a kids bedroom set with additional playroom stuff plus an outdoor playset with outdoor table and chairs. I'm thinking that might come at Christmas.

Maybe with a dollhouse if I can get organized.

Right now we are using a placemat to define the play space. That's working really well.

Really cute... wish I had a girl so I could look out for that stuff!

All but one of our gifts for our kiddo were thrift store/garage sale finds - two books, several tools and a few cars - he has no idea and loves them anyway. My mom's garage sale Thomas the Train tracks were the best gift he got for his birthday, anyway!

I saw this idea somewhere for stocking stuffers - until he's maybe 8 (he's 4 now), I'm just going to reuse some of them. The stickers and candy he can keep out, but I think I'll just tuck away the little Christmas puzzles and pencils. Hee hee.

Wow!! That was one AWESOME find! I love Plan Toys. Seriously, I don't know what I'm going to do if we can't thrift anymore.

Perhaps thrifting will just have to go under ground:) We'll all be rebels with a cause - it'll be great:)

I'm thinking doll house for Brenna next Christmas. She has the plastic Fisher Price first dollhouse, and it was fine for her toddlerhood. But she's outgrown it and I would lke to get her something that will last. Starting Elise off slow while she's young was smart - think how much play she'l get out of those toys as she gows. And each time you add to the collection, the whole thing will seem fresh to her, multiplying the wow factor:)

LOVE IT! The simplest gifts are often the best.

The dolls and furniture in the picture look like Melissa & Doug stuff! We bought my 4 yr old daughter a huge M&D dollhouse and it came with similar dolls and toys!! What a deal!!

Can hardly wait to find out what the best-ever surprise was and what other goodies the children received. When you say the doll furniture was Elise's big Christmas present from you, do you mean that was her gift from you and your husband or from Santa? I thought you meant Santa and my sister assumed it was a gift from you. Just curious and always like looking into a slice of someone else's life. It is interesting to see how others entertain, spend, etc. We are all different and can learn things from others we would think of on our own. Thanks for sharing glimpses of your life with your readers.

Why am I so very eager to find out your surprise? I guess because the other things you find are always so special....

I love the furniture. Is that a toilet I see in the corner? Too cute.

God bless.

From us or Santa--it's really all the same, isn't it?

This has nothing to do with today's post...but I just had to tell you. Went to King Soopers this morning for milk -- and lo and behold, pineapples were $1 each! I haven't seen this for a long, long time...and thought about your dollar-a-gift problem mentioned some weeks ago. There were plenty of them in the display, too! (Yes, I bought 3...one for us, and one each for the daughters.)

At our house there are wrapped gifts under the tree from Mom and Dad and then Santa brings toys (wrapped or unwrapped depending on whether it is a bicycle or a game!)to put under the tree the next morning. To the little ones, parents and Santa are not the same. That seems to be the norm in my area but I'm sure that varies by family and geography.

What a great find! Just the bedroom set alone would have cost $15.00. We have the plan toy doll house and some of the furniture too. Only I had to pay regular price. Can I go shopping with you sometime? :)

Can't wait to see what the big surprise is.

Did you ever conclude this post??

Meredith said...

I did, and for various reasons and ugly comments, decided to pull it.

After I re-gifted a Target gift card to another family in need, we bought a bag of assorted toys for stocking stuffers from the thrift store instead.

Inside a new card game we found a $40 Target gift card, never used!

Apparently the child who received the card game never looked inside to see the gift card from his grandparents. I was unable to track the original owner down.
