Weekend update

Today's ultrasound revealed a reasonable 8.5-9.5 pound baby. Whew! We're still planning an early delivery due to complications.

Wow, healthy baby! Both of mine were over 8 pounds, too. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and a resounding Atta Girl for keeping your diabetes under control!

I had a lot of fluid, too. The doctors always mentioned that wow, I had a lot. One even nick named my son Noah(the flood, oh I hope you all got that!) I pray all will go easy for you and the little one. I wouldn't know what to do with a teeny baby, my smallest was 8lb 13 1/2 oz and biggest was 10 lb 14 oz with two more over 10 lbs and one 9 lb 14 oz. They are so juicy! Just wanna kiss um too death. Love the little rolls and fat little thighs and little bitty fingernails. Oh, I need to do the church nursery or babysit.

SO TELL US WHEN THE DELIVERY IS!!! DON'T MAKE US WAIT TOO!!!

Delivery date depends on the results of next week's amniocentesis.

Because gestational diabetes/too much fluid can delay lung development 2-3 weeks, we have to make sure the baby will be able to breathe (even though at 37 weeks plus, he's technically "term.")

Meredith,

I remember those last four weeks. Every day I wanted to go into labor because I was so uncomfortable and so tired of the regulated diet. And every day I knew it was for the best that I didn't.

Here's something to try if you haven't done it before. Measure your calves right before your delivery. I think I lost something like two and a quarter inches around my calves within a week of having Caroline. I could not believe how swollen my legs were! Two inches doesn't sound like much, but if you actually put the tape measure out to where it was, it is hard to believe.

Praying for a safe and joyful delivery!
Sallie

I'll be praying! My last two were a little early and we didn't have any real breathing problems. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I can't wait to meet the little guy:)

Meredith, hope the amnio has good news week and both you & baby will be ready for his arrival. Thank you for these links, they are so providential as my sister in Myrtle Beach was just referred to MUSC for opinion on her two second trimester pregnancy losses. So far the local drs. have had no answers. Blessings to you. Alison

Meredith, hang in there. You are almost done! And you've done an awesome job taking care of baby boy! We are all praying for a healthy baby, healthy mommy, and a complication-free delivery. Also prayers for the amnio that it doesn't hurt and that you get good news about little man's lungs. :) :)

Praying for a quick, easy, and safe delivery for you and that precious baby boy! You might not like me for this, but I'm going to start the deluge of name suggestions (Although I'm sure you've had a name picked out for months!) Adam: an "A" name to be like his big bubby Andrew!

I was out with the Nester today and she was raving about you. I couldn't believe that I hadn't found your blog before, but I am so glad she steered me your way. Congrats on the blessing to be. :)

I found the article about the amnio interesting. I've had two induced at 37 weeks (due to my medical conditions, not baby size) and amnio was never even mentioned. I'll know to push for it if this happens in the future.

Hoping that all goes well in your upcoming delivery!

Prayers for your amnio and future labor/delivery. I had two marginally early 36-37w and 3 at 39-40 weeks and there was a difference in developement and health between the groups. Lay on your left side often, it helps reduce the swelling.

Meredith, best wishes for a safe delivery. Saying prayers for you and looking forward to a picture of your new addition.

Big baby doesn't necessarily translate to healthy baby. My grandson was over 11 lbs., and they had to check his blood sugar levels every hour. They told us that big babies often have low blood sugar levels.

I hope all goes well, Meredith, and that your little son is perfectly healthy!

I had a friend who had an 11 1/2 pound baby last week--and she survived! So you can do it! Hugs!

Somehow I missed this post. Congratulations!! Because of medical issues my pregnancies have to be induced as well. Though I've always been a fan of letting things occur naturally, I have to say that it all went much better than expected, for both me and the babies. Praying that you have a great experience and a healthy baby!
