I found this Kitestrings seersucker outfit just before zipping our suitcase shut.
Thank goodness for cooler alternatives--and only $2.49, if anyone's counting!
Speaking of last-minute substitutes, we scrambled to find a ring pillow around the house.
We improvised with this island basket and two family rings.
(The real rings got locked in the safe without a combination!)
I ended up wearing my hair off my neck, a shiny layer of perspiration and my widest, stretchiest shoes. The best laid plans!Forgive the unflattering photo, but I knew you'd want to see, for better or worse.
Elise was tickled pink in a hand smocked gown.
It was a lovely wedding, improvisations and all.

You look lovely, the children are adorable; aren't you glad that you went? Thank you for sharing! What a beautiful setting!
You look fabulous- you glow!
I am so glad you went AND they understood what a treasure you were to their family. You just look like it flowed so well -for everyone. All that worry for a family who appreciates you more than you know...or maybe you know even more now!
OH you are killing me with that gorgeous photo....what a picture perfect location!
And you look lovely...I agree with Suzanne. Love the pink pretty smocked dress, too.
Unflattering? I think you look marvelous. Love your elegant outfit. Andrew was very dapper and Elise, pretty as a tulip.
And, judging from the photos I've seen I believe the wedding was picture perfect.
Welcome home!
I'm so glad y'all had a good time. The wedding looks lovely and so do you! I'm amazed, traveling is so tough when you're expecting and you pulled it off with such grace. You and the babies look just right.
I'm glad you're back, though - bet you are too:)
Your outfit was perfect! I agree with everyone else...you are glowing! Everything looks so lovely!
Yes, you look lovely!!
:o) Rachel
I can't see the entire outfit in the picture you posted, but I think that the top at least is just perfect for a summery, island wedding! It looks like it was a good choice for such a sunny, warm location. So, see, all that worrying for nothing! (But I say that tounge-in-cheek, because we have a VERY formal, out of state evening wedding to attend in October, and I am already worrying about how we are going to clothe 7 people in fancy wedding clothes, and then travel there, too, without going broke!)
I'd love to see more pictures and hear about all the neat things you did while you were there. You have been missed, Meredith! Welcome Home!!
Susan
Meredith- you look wonderful! Beautiful dress and beautiful children. It all looks so... perfect and happy.

Meredith,
I don't know why we thought you needed our opinion on a dress for you to wear to the wedding. The pictures prove that your taste , as always is impeccable!
Welcome Home !
Well, I just clicked over from my reader to say I think you look absolutely charming... though I see by now I am merely joining the chorus! Congratulations on finding something you were comfortable in, after all that worry; it looks like it was perfect for a beach wedding. The flowers and dishes and, oh my, the ring basket!!! Hope you got a chance to RELAX at some point, too!
I think that top you are wearing looks very cute.
You look so beautiful in your dress. Elegant and classy.
Welcome back
Antonella
I love the dress you decided to wear - looks so light and summery! You and your children looked beautiful! Welcome home!
You all look wonderful! The tables look pretty and what a beautiful view!
Meredith, you were lovely!!
I'm going to bookmark this to share with m Pre-Cana couples - I am always advising them that a wedding can be simple and inexpensive and still be meaningful and elegant!
Thanks for the great pictures

You look stunning actually :-)
Sounds warm but fabulous! You all look great!

Glad you are back safely.

Love your shirt! You all look great and the flowers too. Hmmm, is there possibly a frugal connection there with not having a florist and saving the chipped crystal?
You looked great - fresh and cool and fairly casual which is perfect for an island wedding - Your hair back looks chic and your children look perfect ! We worry so much about these affairs and afterwards we wondered why we did !

You look cute and summery! I hope you had a good time. You've been missed here.
Where was this wedding? It looks lovely!
Meredith,
I lost count of all the things you mentioned that didn't go as planned or expected -- the rings got locked inside a safe!!!! All the last minute (literally) decisions. But the pictures do not disclose any of the chaos you describe. They are so soft, serene, and beautiful.
You and the kids look perfectly dressed. You appear to be calm and glowing. I know your presence was a blessing to all. You are an amazing woman.
Rita
You all look so adorable!! And the setting is just lovely.
Oh come on...you're expecting! I don't think ANY of us think we are pretty in hideous tropical heat when you're a month or so away from your due date. I know I swelled like a balloon.
Either way though...you look absolutely lovely! Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most beautiful things a woman can do, and I like to believe that we are beautiful by proxy. You looked lovely, far lovelier than I would've - I didn't even like venturing out to my car at the point you're at in your pregnancy last summer.
I LOVE Elise's dress - you all seriously have the best thrift shops in Tennessee. All we have in Wisconsin is snow boots, jeans, and flannels... ;)
Now, for burning questions - did the newlyweds get their real rings out??
You look really pretty. I love all the wedding news. Thanks for the pictures.
Elizabeth
I think you look beautiful and very happy.
How glad are you that you decided not to wear navy or black to the wedding! Your choice was much more appropriate for that climate. You looked very nice.
I love your outfit!
How is it that I never knew you wore glasses? Hoping you'll post how to KEEP your hair up off your neck in the heat, without looking like a rat's nest (or do I just have bad hair? It won't stay up. Ever.)
I wear glasses half the time.
I had planned to wear my contacts, but the sweat was running down my face so much I could not see with them in!
That was a fabulous, very flattering top! Way to go!
Thank you, Vicky.
I found the top marked down to 99-cents at the neighborhood thrift store, and the slim blue skirt for $2--so I figured I would buy them just in case.
Good thing I did, because I never could have survived in the linen jacket outfit!
You look absolutely fantastic! i love the dress and necklace and you look so pretty and happy! Glad you're back! Kelly
You look awesome, Meredith and the children look beautiful too. What a beautiful location for a wedding- makes me long for some oceans and sand :)
Beautiful photos and YOU look gorgeous, Meredith! I know it's an old adage about glowing but it's true. :o)
I was actually thinking to myself when I looked at your photo how pretty you looked.
Then I read you thought it was unflattering! You looked wonderful!
$2.99 for your wedding attire! Wow!It looked great!
Gorgeous all...kids, Mama and wedding tables. Beautiful!
I think you look lovely. xoxo Nita
Love your dress, and what great wedding ideas. You are such an inspiration!
I just wanted to say that I love what you finally chose to wear to the wedding! That top is very pretty, and you look lovely!
The kids look fantastic, too!
