First time bowling

With $3/pair rental fees, our own bowling shoes would pay for themselves after a couple of wears. Here's hoping I can find some at a yard sale this spring!

I see your point. But my family style lends itself better to paying the rental fees: we might bowl 1x/year and we'd have to store those shoes the rest of the year (and keep growing kids in correct sizes). In fact, I was just suggesting to my husband recently that he throw out of some of his "dirty work" shoes - all his worn out shoes get downgraded to dirty work shoes and they are starting to pile up on the backdoor rack.

I don't think I've ever seen bowling shoes at a yard sale, so good luck with that. You never know, of course!

Don't forget to watch signs of bowling alley closings. They MUST sell those shoes when one closes up shop, wouldn't you think?

Timely posting.. I was just suggesting to Hubs that we take the Littles out bowling. I always forget about those bumpers. :)

I've looked for them too! None yet!

For you & your DH its probably cost effective, if you bowl a lot. If you have kids whose feet grow, not so much.

I love to bowl, we took the children a couple of weeks ago. Our bowling alley is so smoky that we don't go much. Good luck finding shoes, you might give ebay a try. Take care Michelle

Goodness, I try not to think about how many feet have been in shoes I rent. Finding your own sounds like a sanitary endeavor!

Meridith, you are the only person I know of who would likely luck out on finding such an item at a yard sale! Good luck to ya!
