Score!

My heart fluttered when I saw this sign at my neighborhood grocer. How crazy is it to be excited about an extra orange per dollar?

Since I just calculated fruit cost for my breakfast, I knew my price to beat was 25-cents, or the approximate cost of each orange in the "8 lb for $5" special.

This surprise deal saved me $2. Since I was able to select each orange by hand, I also saved myself the one or two rotten fruits I've come to expect in a big bag.

Don't laugh at my glee! I can now budget for two more pineapples, which are 99-cents at Aldi this week.

Added side bonus: The produce manager let me keep these handy foam trays. Santa will be slipping one in my husband's drawer to organize all his socks!

I don't think that's silly at all...I think the Lord is very pleased when we spend $ wisely! :)

I'm tickled for you - no laughing here! When we think of things in terms of cents, we tend to think "it's just a few cents, it doesn't matter." But when we think in terms of the things those cents represent (pineapples!) we see what a difference those cents can make.

You organize your husband's socks?! Sigh...I feel even more behind on the housework than I felt five minutes ago.

Let it be noted that I DO NOT organize my husband's socks!

But I do have a husband who would be thrilled beyond measure with an organized sock drawer!

Consider yourself blessed. When I open my husband's closet, things fall on me. Last week I tried to put his pants away and some award he got in elementary school fell on me and the glass shattered. Let this be a lesson to the not yet married to choose wisely.

I glad you get to add two extra pineapples. I was thinking how nice fresh pineapple would be and the tops can be used as decoration too.

On the socks- a few years ago I broke down and bought one of those accordion sock organizers. Over the last two years the accordion is no longer visible over the rolled balls of extra socks. As a result, every time I get to throw a pair out because of hole I get a thrill because I'm a little closer to be organized.

I think it is great! I would have been just as excited. For those people that watch prices, a great deal always causes excitement!

I keep hearing about Aldi's being so cheap. I live near Boston and I don't think we have anyplace like that. Sounds good to me.

Nice score with the oranges!

No Aldi's here and I'm disappointed. But I love our Fiesta Foods.

Now the excitement... I completely understand. I was excited with you. I can be heard in the store saying "Thank You God" whenever I find something on my list costs less than I expected. Very cool

We scored on oranges this week too-a huge box for $12! Regular price $23.99 and it should last us all month at least.

Aldi pineapples are delicious!

For those who may think just b/c Aldi is cheap, that their food isn't as good...I have been buying their pineapples throughout the year - and it's a pretty rare one, when I find my pineapple "dry" or blaah.

So when I found out they were on sale for only 99 cents - I bought 3 of them and every one was wonderful! They are a bit smaller than the ones I find at other grocery stores - but the consistently good results and cheaper prices - makes me prefer the Aldi ones.

Yes, mine have the very same Del Monte tag that the Kroger pineapples had--for $4.49 apiece!

I have been able to find pineapples just as large as most grocers by choosing carefully.

Make sure you choose one that has yellowed and smells like pineapple if you want to eat it immediately.

I chose green pineapples since since I won't need them till next week.

Indie, I feel you! I put away on hangers and in drawers and he makes a pile of clean & dirty on the closet floor (luckily walk in). I don't wash until he moves his pile to the hamper, if I pick it off the bedroom or living room floor I put it in his closet pile. Less frustration for both of us this way as I'm not tempted to nag.
