Uh oh

I spray painted the plastic mailbox--with a half-empty can I found in a yard sale free pile.

I'll let you know how it turned out tomorrow. Let's hope it looks a lot less like a green plastic ride toy!

Are you going to decorate your mailbox this year?

I often use the spray paint for plastic on toys I buy at yard sales etc. for my day care children. The paint looks good, however I find it does not 'wear' well. Children playing with the toy after it has been painted takes the paint off very quickly. I do not think you would have that kind of 'problem' on a mail box. Good luck. I do have the same kind of mail box. It does look for all the world like a "Little Tyke" mail box. I brought mine because it looked like a toy. I do day care for a living from my home. I liked that it lookded like a toy. Roxie

got any gold spraypaint? you could sorta 'sponge' it on with plastic wrap or a plastic grocery bag. Spray a little bit - take your plastic & 'grab' the paint you just sprayed & dab it all over the area; then do it again... it'll give it a lovely marbled effect.

Blessings!

At least there will be no mistaking your mailbox. If you have new guests coming to your home, just tell them to look for the John Deere green mailbox. :) That is a very good idea though to spray paint an old mailbox to give it some new life.

Good for you! It looks beautiful. My best spray paint tale is when I spray painted my miniature pumpkins gold to stop the rotting process...they were preserved from early fall through well after Turkey Day. I love spray paint and free, yet! Kudos!
