Salad at home

Last night I met a new friend for dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express. We used a 2-for-1 Citipass Book coupon, of course!

The signature Chinois chicken salad tasted bitter in the way that bagged salad can, but I loved its spicy mustard dressing. In fact, I'm munching on the leftovers as I type.

"I bet I can make this even better at home," I wondered on the way to the post office. And so we stopped by the international grocery for fresh bok choy and almonds, to replace the high carb wonton strips.

I popped in the Goodwill next door, only to spot a new Chico's top marked $2. Had I not just wandered through Chico's before last night's dinner, admiring the rich colors and richer prices?

So now, for less than the cost of one meal, I have the makings of a family-size salad AND another piece to mix with my secondhand Chico's outfit. I just love it when the frugal alternative presents itself so easily!

MMM... that looks delicious! When you find out how to make it, will you share the recipe?

Thank you for sharing that picture.

YUM-O! I love Asian flavors & am a mustard-lover as well! I can't wait to try the dressing on a regular tossed salad ;>)

TFS!

Hi, Mrs. Gunning! If you click on the highlighted phrase "spicy mustard dressing," you'll open a new window to a site with step-by-step directions.

Enjoy!

I love it when I find new with tags items at Goodwill! I just got some Calvin Klein capris in my current post-baby size that way...but due to regional differences my price was $4.25 (still a great deal!).

I bought my 2-year-old a gorgeous newer line Gymboree velvet dress for $1.49 last week at the Franklin Road Goodwill here in Nashville. Woo hoo! I also put together a $5 outfit for her (3ts were marked higher)...a Children's Place leopard print skirt and Gymboree top.

Also, that salad looks and sounds fantastic.
