Join the club. I'm putting on a podcast to distract me from a fall deep clean. It's Labor Day weekend, and I want my husband to relax in a tidy house. At least for the first day!
Do you like to do your big clean after the weekend or before?
Usually before the weekend, but being 6 months pregnant with my 3rd...its usually whenever I happen to get the energy. Hauling around this extra weight up and down the stairs takes its tole!
I usually will do a big clean before a weekend like this weekend.....my Sky is having her 9th birthday slumber party, so yes, I will be cleaning today and tomorrow.
Normally, I clean when it needs it (or later...LOL) and try to keep things generally tidy each day.
I try to keep the house pretty well picked up and clean at all times, but with ten people living here and a couple more sharing the space during the day, it can be hard!
I clean after the weekends..unless we're having guests, then it's before and after!!
Today it's underneath the kitchen sink that's getting the attention. My Honey purchased a new dishwasher for me and under the sink must be empty for him to install it.
I like to do my big clean on Saturday mornings. My husband is only home on Saturday afternoon and Sunday,so I want him to be in a clean house while he's in town. Lately, I've been doing a little more on Fridays, though. I do try to do a small clean each day just to keep everything tidy.
I'll join you all tomorrow after I drop off the kids at their 'schools'. I can't seem to clean with my babies here. They distract me and I get snappy if I have to stop mid-sweep or scrub. And I don't want them to start thinking that doing chores is something to slog thru with lots of yelling. My house was like that growing up and I don't want that for myself. I'd rather have a bit of a mess here and there until I can have a free moment alone.
Jenny, I know just what you mean! Elise is a one-baby destruction crew right now. She goes right behind me opening cabinets and spilling flour and whatever else she can get those nimble hands into.
I always clean after the weekend. For some reason (4 people at home in a small house, maybe?) our house is always trashed after the weekend. No sense in cleaning it before. :)
I started doing the S.H.E. (sidetracked home executive) method and do note cards through the week. This week is my first time doing it and it is going really well. I have a day off on Fridays and Sundays are activities like cutting coupons and such...I love it! My house has never looked better!
PS- I listen to my iPod while I do my house cleaning. There is nothing like a little up tempo music to get a girl cleaning ;)
I'm a rigidly-scheduled girl. I get really uptight when my schedule gets off. Tuesdays are Laundry Day, and Thursdays are Housecleaning Day. I like to have the house nice and clean for the weekend.
Of course, my hubby often has his stormtrooper buddies over on weekends, and then they mess up my freshly-cleaned living room with their electronic bits and pieces and costumes all over the place. *sigh*
But I do love to have a nicely-cleaned house to enjoy on Fridays and into the weekend if no one is messing it up! :-)
For about the past year, I have swept and vacuumed every Thursday (also in between if I can find the time). We moved into our house on a Thursday, and I did those things just before the movers arrived. Seemed like a good habit to stick with. I alternate other house-keeping chores every other Thursday. Husband likes a clean house on the weekends.
I usually do as much as I can during naptime, because my daughter absolutely undoes every thing I try to accomplish. Once I tried mopping while she was still awake; my kitchen might as well have been an ice arena the way she slid around!
I like to big clean during Fridays, have kids quick clean their rooms & backpacks on Friday after school, and head into the weekend ready to go at a project, kicking back, or impromptu hospitality without the ball and chain of a messy house.
Since I'm a homemaker, and home most days, Monday is the get everything back in order day. (Monday holidays mess up my system : )
I like to do big fall cleaning in late September when it starts FEELING like autumn.
I do my big clean on friday and then spend monday morning tyding up and doing a quick wipe down on conners tops, bathrooms and a quick vacum and you can't even tell the weekend ever happend! :)
ooooh.. cleaning. I think this is where we part company. I LOVE TO CLEAN. I do all my cleaning on Fridays. I tidy up during the week but Friday is the day to wash/vac the floors, clean the bathrooms, change the sheets, do all the laundry, wash the windows. By Friday evening we can relax and enjoy the weekend. And it helps knowing all clothes are ready for church, no one is searching for anything and if I feel the urge, I can invite a family home for lunch and not fret about the condition of my home. :)
Personally, I like it to magically clean itself but when that doesn't happen, I like to have it clean by Saturday morning. If we all buckle down and clean "our" room, it takes about an hour IF AND ONLY IF I have kept it up during the week. SO I say BEFORE! By the way, I LOVE YOUR BLOG!
oh, before ... that way it seems like there is a nice reward of a few days of relaxation waiting for me afterward ;-)
Happy Labor Day weekend!
Best Wishes!
PS - I wanted to take a few moments to tell you, too, how very much this blog has come to mean to me ... I really have learned from you and been inspired by you and consider it a treat every time I swing by and you've updated. Thank you for the time and care you put into this blog! :-)
I usually do a big cleaning the week after. We don't have company... we go to my parents. We are so busy the few days before that I just don't have time to get it done. The week after is much more lax as we settle into our fall routine.
I like to clean once the weather gets cool and crisp. We aren't home much over Labor Day weekend anyway, so there wouldn't be much time to enjoy a clean house.
I like the start the weekend fresh and clean. I think it is nice to wake up Saturday morning and be able to relax or go without worrying about the house. Then I usually have to spend Monday morning doing a big pickup and put away.

This has been the first week of school for us and I feel like I've been running in circles all week.
I haven't thought about a deep clean, although I should...and it would be good to start with the top of my desk...LOL!

I love that chair! LOL! :)
I'm cleaning too... but I try and do more cooking towards the weekend, then do my big cleaning Monday morning :)

Tracy, I know you like to clean!
I like a clean house, too, and all the benefits it brings.
I just wanted to mention that I don't particularly enjoy cleaning, just as a reality check for anyone reading!

I straighten at the end of the week so it's neat, and then really clean at the beginning of the week. It helps me transition back into the week.
