Give away something you no longer need.Change everyone's pillowcases midweek. Fresh, cool pillowcases make the heat more bearable.Iron a casual shirt. Even a well-worn t-shirt, when pressed, just feels better.Bring home a stack of coffee table books from the library. Challenge the kids to match crayons to the colors in a painting.Compliment someone you know. Encouraging words are rarer than gifts.

Beautiful thoughts. I especially like the last one. I know I always appreciate encouragement, so I try to remember to give it. Today I just mailed prayer cards to all the kids in my Sunday school class to let them know that we're thinking of them and praying for them since they started back to school this week. I hope they feel loved and encouraged when they receive them.

These are such good words-- tears actually sprang to my eyes as I read them.
I had one of those moments yesterday-- I read a book review of a book I very much wanted to peruse, and checked, and it was available at our local library. I sat back and thought about our tiny book budget, and how often I have enjoyed wonderful books for free at the library.
Thanks so much for your daily ideas, which give so many creative ways to choose simplicity and gratitude.
