I don't like to store holiday decorations. Yet, I do like to add fresh touches for each season. I put a clump of violets in a 5-cent basket and set it on "the tall chair." Children ought to have pretty things at eye level, too.

Books don't count as clutter, right? You can dig a clump of violets from just about anywhere. Display a few library books, if you don't have an Easter title at home.

Very cute, yet simple and elegant idea. My mom used to make an Easter display just using whatever spring-type stuffed animals and books we had - that was fun.

Meredith - This is a beautiful arrangement. I love to use books this way, too. And what a great reminder to put pretty things on little ones' eye level.
This is such a sweet idea! I am teaching our 2 year old not to "investigate" plants by taking them apart or pouring things into them. This is a good way to do it!
I laughed about the decorating in the dessert question. I wonder if (I believe they do) you could decorate with jade plant in the dessert. They are pretty and you can easily seperate and multiply them. Flowering cacti would work too.

I don't know about a jade plant ... most of the houses in our neighborhood have front lawns made of ... ROCKS!

Jora, I have never been west of Memphis, TN--so I honestly have NO specific ideas. However, each area of the country has its unique beauty and I'm sure you could come up with something creative!
If I lived in the desert, I would have to have a lot of houseplants.
Don't you know you are supposed to eat those violets? LOL (You really can though. The leaves are great and the flowers make the salad pretty!)
I love the tea pot display! Very nice!
I'm certainly not complaining ... we get 600 sunny days a year!
