Before our fishing trip, we had to return a birthday gift to Outdoor World. It's Andrew's favorite place to take his pennies. He would toss $10 in the fountain if I'd let him! We do enjoy looking at the giant aquarium and creative displays throughout the store.

He's not the only one who likes to lose money there. It was turkey weekend, and Bass Pro was absolutely packed with families. I noticed the mega-man-store is making more of an effort to include home accessories and female-friendly displays.

I had to stop at this one, though--I think a rodent in the jewelry case might be taking the whole taxidermied theme a bit too far!

We love that store too. I call it the Dead Zoo. The kids beg to stop and see all the animals - it doesn't seem to phase them that nearly everything is dead. They just love that they can get *that close* to a real lion!
LOL At least the rodent wasn't wearing the jewelry.
Wow, I had no idea Bass Pro was so fun! Big Daddy has a gift certificate to spend; maybe we'll make a family day out of it.
This chain is supposed to be coming to Sacramento in the next few years so I guess we'll have to check it out. My first reaction to the squirrel is "ewww" but then I remember that, as a kid, I loved the taxidermy diaromas that were the feature of my hometown's "Safari Club Restaurant." Originally owned by a big game hunter, it was an unusual restaurant for a small logging town in Oregon.
The rodent is hilarious! Maybe they are hoping it will prevent shoplifting??
