We budgeted an overnight stay as part of our move. Bidding for hotels in my own city was a novel experience. After studying Hotwire, Expedia, Priceline and travel coupon magazines, I ultimately chose a hotel through Priceline. We bid in the Brentwood area because hotels in the entire zone are safe. At $40 a night, I feared I greatly overpaid for the economy 2* property. Boy, was I wrong! First of all, it's so easy to impress a four-year-old. You would have thought we were at the Waldorf Astoria! Our room at the Candlewood Suites, though dated, design-wise, was spacious and clean, with a large full kitchen, nice bath, desk, recliner and even a lending DVD library. The towels weren't even the typical threadbare variety, but thick and ribbed. There was more than enough room to set up the baby's Pack 'N Play. We had a full-size refrigerator and popcorn in the microwave, but the lobby featured a mini-convenience store with low priced snacks and drinks.
