Adirondack chairs

The new front yard practically cries out for a circle of Adirondack chairs. I had no idea they cost so much, though. You can find free plans for making your own chairs online. We have the tools. We'll have the time. We can scrounge the wood from somewhere. But in the interest of marital harmony, I sure do hope we find some at a yard sale first.

Note: If you're wondering why this week's page looks so brown, Blogger isn't letting me upload photos with any regularity. Hmmm.

I wonder if you could try Freecycle for those chairs? (Me...I think they are terribly uncomfortable, but pretty!)

They ARE very uncomfortable. Althought the ones with seperate footrests feel a little better. Anything else you can think of that would give you the look you want?

I've always thought them very comfy! Either way, the price is not in my budget right now. What I find is what I'll use!

My parents' neighbor was recently moving into a nursing home so the kids were clearing out the house. The placed a wooden bench & 2 chairs out for trash. Luckily it was when I was visiting my parents! Unfortunately, the cushions were missing. I have some basic (very basic) sewing skills so I'm not sure which would be more thrifty. Any ideas? Judy

Harbor Freight has adirondacks for $20-25. They're pine but with a coat of stain, they are attractive. And they are comfortable! Shipping is pretty reasonable also, I think or else they send out coupons. Somehow you can get a good deal on shipping. It is worth investigating.
