A humbling day

We went to a for-sale-by-owner open house today and walked away with a contract! We had been looking near my husband's school, but wandered into an adjacent area that averages $100,000 more. What we found was a 1600 square foot ranch/farmhouse priced just within our budget. It's old enough to have charming cottage details such as solid wood doors and original glass knobs, but new enough for a sunny, open floor plan. What's more--it's completely and totally renovated! The owners have a granite business, and the fixtures and counters are above the ordinary. (Trust me, I know Home Depot's renovator specials!) I never in a million years thought we could afford a house in such a nice area, much less one that doesn't require any work.
There is much rejoicing in our family tonight.

Meredith-
I am reading about your wonderful blessing from the great state of Texas! We're on vacation down here, but I just have to check in on your blog when I get the chance! I am VERY happy for you, and am rejoicing for you. It is such a good reminder to me of God's faithfulness. I will be looking forward to seeing and hearing many of the details as the days go by. Congratulations!!

Congratulations Meredith! How wonderfully it has all worked out...won't it be fun to decorate only without having to renovate?

How wonderful! I already love the house just because of that cute nook of shelves by the door.

Congratulations, Meredith! It looks lovely! What a blessing.

Will you still be in the same parish? I am looking very much forward to the fact that when I'm home for Christmas break, the building project will be done.

Very exciting! Love the built in shelves, floor and front door. What a blessing to have all that charm and character, and finished too.

Layla, sorry I missed your question earlier. Yes, I think we will stay in the same church. Email me when you're home for break--we can introduce ourselves over doughnuts, okay?
