But what will I blog about?

My husband joked that I will have to retire this blog, without constant renovating to describe. It's terrible when you look at a dark, dank house and think, "At least it would be a lot to blog about!" I'm still reeling from the fact that we won't have to scrape fifteen old windows or re-tile a buckling bathroom floor. We'd been looking at houses of the same size, in lesser areas, that required total gut jobs--for the same amount of money. Or we'd look at well-kept houses on equally good streets that would have us squeezed into 1100 square feet. This house was the rare combination of investment potential, good neighborhood, and fabulous condition. The cynic in me keeps asking, "What's the catch?" We knew this move would cost us more than previous homes (we've always had payments under $500!), so I'll be gearing up for blackbelt budgeting as we adjust to a slightly higher mortgage.

In the meantime, I'll just have to come up with some other schemes to keep you coming back here : )

We're in the middle of renovating a drafty old Victorian wreck, and I'm so happy that you found a great house!

Sounds like a great topic to me! And I'm sure you'll find 100 ways to add your special touch to your new home.

Congratulations!!!

Meredith,
your new home is BEAUTIFUL. And don't worry, we'll all keep reading, cause you have plenty of ideas, even without renovation!

Um. You do VERY little on renovating. Just keep blogging your life the way you have and you'll not lack for readers I think.

Ruth, I started this blog documenting our current house..then finished it and (thought I) was simply in a holding pattern until the next house rolled along. So I guess you're right, though it's not what I originally intended!

Besides, with nothing to paint, I'll have more time to blog, right? I am going to have to find enough furniture on the cheap to fill up all that space. 1600 square feet is palatial to us.

Don't worry, I'll keep swinging by to read your little tibits and events. I love your frugal insights. :)

You always come up with interesting blogs..house ideas or no house ideas. I'm hooked on wondering what you will write about next! And yes as mentioned you still have to decorate that beauty "on the cheap" and that alone is plenty for a frugal blog and your budget will need tweeking with the new house as you mentioned etc. And we all love the comments about your little cuties too! Don't ever worry we will always still "stay tuned" to your blog!

Congratulations on such a wonderful house. Without renovations you'll have more time to blog, decorate, and paint some pictures. I remember a really strong painting of fruit, maybe on a porch? Can't wait to hear about your decorating finds on a budget...love that frugal stuff!

With much admiration, Connie

Meredith - Congratulations!!! From the pictures you posted, the house looks lovely! I'm so happy for you and your family. What a blessing. I know that you'll still find plenty to write about as you re-budget for your new home.

Congratulations Meredith & company! What a lovely home. May you make many happy memories here.

Hey, how is the bathroom? No pink tile I hope!

I can think of several things you could blog right away:
1) The biggest...how did you arrange your finances/credit report in such a way that you were able to snap this one up?
1a) People who don't have a Realtor Aunt...any hope of finding special deals like this?
2) Compare and contrast what you've learned about granite tops...
3) you're definitely going to need some counter space to the right of that stove..
4) Is that wood flooring in the kitchen?!
5) Definitely, furniture on the cheap. Nashville must have some great furniture finds.
6) And, I hate to say this because it's shooting myself in the foot, but I bet there are people who would PAY to subscribe to insider info on your blog. Just keep it low, ok, we're all on budgets too : )

Warmly, Debbie

I'm curious...is this a live here and raise the children house or will there be other moves in the future?

Some time ago - I think it was before the baby - you were looking to start a home-based business. You have such a great eye for decorating, maybe owning a less-demanding property will be your opportunity to become a professional real estate "stager".
Love, love, love your blog - I'm here every day. Congratulations on your new home, and best wishes for your move!

Donna, I think we'll stay in this home as long as we can! My husband's career will be the driving force behind our next move, whenever that happens.
