Brown Brick House: After

Working within the limits of budget and time, we've updated the rancher with lighter trim paint, fewer tree branches and more defined flower beds.

There was a lot more I would have liked to do, but isn't that always the case?

Wow!!!! What a difference - can I buy your house? ;)

I think the house looks bigger without the brown shutters, etc. breaking up the space. One broker we had told us to put a pot of yellow flowers near the entrance to draw the eye as yellow as a wont to do.

Malakela, great idea on the yellow flowers! The daffodils I planted on either side of the steps have already bloomed, but I do plan to put a couple of potted annuals there soon.

Don't hesitate to chime in with ideas, ladies! This house is a work in progress until the the "for sale" sign goes up this summer.

What a sense of satisfaction you must get when you see all of the effort you've put in and the beautiful results.

Wow, Meredith! How beautiful! I love the front door! How long have you all lived there? It's amazing!

It truly looks like a completely different house. Wonderful job (if not a little inspiring for my own ranch style home.)

Meredith - It looks fabulous! I'm looking forward to doing some pretty-ing up this spring, too. We've been here for two years already but a lot of that time I've been sick/pregnant or had a newborn most of that time. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it:) But I'm feeling inspired now!

Terri, we have lived here two years at the end of this month. When we bought the house, we put all our work on the inside. Between my husband's new job and graduate school, it's taken us until the second year to even think about the outside.

The front door is the original door to the house. It was painted Tudor Brown earlier...but completely disappeared from the street.
