And The Winner Is...

Vicki from Mothersong! We had about 30 entries, one of which was drawn at random by my handy assistant. Good thing I had an extra kid's DVD in the "family general store," because he thought he was the one who was supposed to be winning a prize : )
I truly appreciated the time people took to email feedback for this blog. I may not have much sleep in the weeks ahead, but now I have plenty of ideas for Like Merchant Ships.
Vicki, if you will send me an address, I will put this in the mail to you tomorrow. I have two more birthday packages to prepare today, and then I'm done with all my mailing until June. Now that's something to celebrate. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Is that a pine needle basket?! Don't tell me you got that for pennies at a yard sale...you know what they cost new, I'm sure...

Similar...it's a sweetgrass basket from the Carolina coast, made by descendents of African slaves with native bullrush and grasses. They cost a lot as souvenirs, but, yes, I've been able to find several (priced anywhere from 25 cents to five dollars) at local yard sales.

Yes, I meant sweetgrass from Carolina, not pine needles. I've seen them for ridiculous prices in souvenier shops and have always wanted to own one but, as you have proved, some owners will part with them for pennies! Have never seen one at a yard sale up here, tho... Debbie

Meredith, I am really, really enjoying your blog. I especially love the wonderful photos you put with your posts. I hope you won't mind when I decide to copy that style on my own blog!
