For Rena

We all have those days--and sometimes weeks and months! I love my family and my job as household manager, but I struggle with housekeeping routines.

I struggle a lot!

Find an aspect of keeping home that you absolutely love--like making a room feel beautiful or cooking fabulous meals, for instance--and whip through the rest of your day so you can get to the fun part.

When I am discouraged or tired, it helps me to remember a few ground rules.

  • Seek to have a servant's heart.
  • Keep your focus on others, not yourself.
  • Aim to do a bit better every day--not to master the universe in a morning.
  • Finally, celebrate your triumphs! (That's what this blog is often about, if you couldn't tell!)

A little celebration goes a long way in uplifting your mood and carrying you on to the next mundane task.

And with that, I'm off to scoop two days' worth of dirty laundry from the hallway floor.

It takes a lot of guts to visually document dirty laundry.
