Can you tell I like baths to look clean to the point of being sterile? I think of hotel baths and unclutter when it's time to sell the house.
Above is a photo of my reorganized bath closet. Key to this look is the absence of all bottles and labels.
Products are hidden in the plastic bins leftover from classroom days:
- one contains medicines and first aid supplies, Ziplocked according to type
- another contains my husband's daily toiletries
- one has "extras" like soap and razors
- the last one holds cleaning supplies
When you're listing your home for sale, there is no such thing as being too neat! I take the toilet paper out of its shrink wrap and line the rolls like little soldiers. I keep an extra, identical bath mat at the ready.
The towels are folded in perfect thirds. I always find white towels so they coordinate without having to match, which these don't. (Weed out your multicolored or extra towels for a neater look).
These shelves were already painted (pink!), so rather than lining them, I gave them two coats of gloss white. Blinding, isn't it?
If only it could stay this way forever!

O.K. I have now broken a commandment by being envious. :) I love the clean look.
Ooooohhh!!! Aaaaahhh!!! Lovely!!!
I love reading ,and then seeing the pictures, of how your house is coming together. It's looking beautiful. I think that you are right about making everything spic and span, clean, pretty, organized, etc. Just looking at the pictures you are posting would make me want to come see and then buy your house if I were out looking for a place in your area. It looks great, Meredith!

I especially like the absence of all the labels and bottles/boxes of things - I just sorted through our linen closet to get rid of what we don't use or is expired. Now is the perfect time to find a couple of bins to hide all the items in! Thanks for the idea!
Wow. That is a really good idea. I already use all white towels in the kitcen (which sounds insane, but they were very inexpensive and I can bleach them if I need to). After seeing these pictures, I might have to consider doing white bathroom towels as well, when I need to replace mine. I also love the storage bin idea as well!
I agree with the anon poster who said that looking at these pictures makes them want to buy a house you are working on. If I lived in your area, I'd at least take a look!
gorgeous closet!
I like the bath cleaner photo, too. I like how you compose your photos. They are not distracting, yet always include some intriguing "still life" element.

Thanks, guys! I would have liked to use natural wicker baskets/bins instead of the plastic--think that would look a little warmer--but I'm trying not to spend any money on this project! Again, it's not that I think the bath closet will sell my home for me...but if a buyer is choosing between mine and another, I do think attention to detail makes a difference.
I have to say, it's motivating to complete these projects knowing I have to report back online! Much easier than slogging it out on my own, with neither the husband or 3-year-old boy even noticing the difference : )
As a current house-hunter myself, I know the little things can make a big difference. It's so hard choose from among ten similar houses, and I end up putting a lot of faith in my gut feeling about a space. But I know my gut can get pretty excited by an organized closet and pretty shelves!

You frighten me.
Wanna come clean my house?
