You would be if you knew this little vignette has been on the floor for, oh, about three weeks.
As much as I like pretty surroundings, I have an uncanny ability to ignore certain spots. These are the handtowels for the guest bath, largely completed two weeks ago. The towels are still on the floor because I have not yet found a towel bar within my budget. There they sit, getting dustier, a constant reminder of what I need to do.
Likewise, that handpainted tortoiseshell curtain rod, you know, the one to which I never attached its finial, sports a lovely tassel of fine grey silk.
The basic beginning to a beautiful home is cleanliness. I was reminded of this when I told my husband all about the fall decorating plans I made for the front porch.
He gestured toward the naturally cobwebbed chandelier and asked, "Halloween already?"
My sister won tickets to the local remodeling show. I'm going, but only if I can knock some projects from my list today. If I don't, Ithe dust might take over before I return.
Quick tip: before you go to a big home show or convention, slip a page of adhesive address labels in your purse. When you enter drawings or sign up for a mailing list, you can just pop a label on the form instead of re-writing ad nauseum.
