In My Library Bag: Blueprint Affordable (Home Building)

Don't you hate it when magazines advertise a "budget decorating" feature...and the budget for one room is greater than the cost of a new car?

I picked up an interesting book by Michelle Kodis, Blueprint Affordable: How To Build A Beautiful Home Without Breaking The Bank.

While the ten homes included soar above my ideal budget, each one showcases economy in some form. Most are contemporary designs, with strange angles or urban details.

If I were building a home or remodeling extensively, I would re-read this book to familiarize myself with the use of newer or alternate materials. Several homes used birch plywood for flooring; many eschew upper cabinets for open shelves.

I'm still glad to find any budget home building books on my library shelves!
