How To See Your Home From A Guest's Perspective

We made it! I don't think I've ever been so relieved to pull into our driveway as I was after this 1600 mile trip.

Coming home tonight felt a little unreal. There were some welcome surprises--like the handful of rosebushes burst into bloom and some (umm) half-forgotten trim my husband painted while I was away.

A fresh perspective helped me spot some clutter problems in the making and a thick layer of dirt around the entryway. The back door could use a burst of color and some potted ferns.

These are the parts of our home which should smile at visitors and embrace our family, but often get lost in coming and going. And yet it would cost so little to make them shine!

I'm grateful for our safe travels, but even more thankful for this chance to come home again--for the first time.

Welcome back, Meredith! Getting away really does help us look at our homes with fresh eyes. I need that!
