It's raining. Again.I'm balancing weekend guests with kids bouncing off the walls uh-oh, better keep the house clean too.
Here are some quiet games online that saved my sanity:
Not necessarily quiet (or consumer-free), my oldest also enjoys Lego, Scholastic, and K'Nex games online.
I'd LOVE to know your kids' favorite free sites. This may be the world's longest weekend!

ReplyDeleteOh thank you thank you for the new websites. Some ones we've never heard of. I think the best $$ we spent was on a Webkinz. You buy the stuffed animal and get a code to play FREE for a year online. Good games and lots of educational ones. Math, spelling, typing to name a few. Plus you earn $$ to take care of your adopted pet aka the Webkinz you bought. Even as adults we like to play some of the games. They're TOUGH! Susan in MT.

ReplyDeletedsokids.com - it's from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra - my daughter's music teacher told her about it. Very nice if your child is interested in music.
I'm a big fan of Starfall, which isn't a game... but my third graders always loved it. It's interactive, and it reinforces reading skills, which is always a fun plus. It isn't quiet, but we always used headphones when I was teaching. My toddler loves it for learning her letters, but it's great for all ages. Hope the weekend starts feeling a little shorter!
ReplyDeleteWe love, love, love Starfall (starfall.com). Our kids don't watch tv, so the simple, flat graphics are exciting enough for them. For a more media-savvy kid, it might seem a little dull, but the content is great for the K and pre-K set.
ReplyDeleteMine are still satisfied with PBS.com and Noggin's website, as well as Disney playhouse. Since we don't have cable, the websites are novel to my girls. :)

ReplyDeleteMy daughters really like Poptropica. Most of the major toy brands have game websites; Barbie, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, etc. Can you tell I have girls? :) Another vote for Starfall, too. The girls were introduced to that in public school; it's an educational game site.

ReplyDeleteGoogle albright/knox art gallery . They have games that compare different works of art . I am sure your son would find them interesting .
I found this link through the HCPL (Harris County Public Library Link ). They had lots of great information. I am sure their are other great library sites on the internet .
Our children use ABC Kids. Most of the games etc are to do with kids programming on the ABC here in Australia and they really enjoy them.

PBSkids.org and the various LEGO stuff (LEGOS, Indiana Jones, Bionicle and so on) are the only ones allowed here!
ReplyDeleteMy girl loves the ABC animal game on the fischer price site. (just hit a button and it says, E! E is for Elephant!) she wants t oplay it OVER AND OVER again. She also loves paint program and mommys tablet =p

ReplyDeleteI'm with many others, pbskids.org is big at our home. So is playhousedisney.com, happymeal.com, starfall, the Hit Entertainment site that hasThomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder and Angelina Ballerina. All are free, and keep my kids busy for a long time!

Although this site has games for every age, we started using it when my daughter was nine years old. We LOVE the U.S. Geography games, especially the Level 3 placement game. (Believe me, it is NOT that easy to place a state in the correct position when faced with a blank outline of the United States!)
