Not so terrible

My cut-it-at-home experiment wasn't a complete fiasco.

The front pieces were a little too long, so I had to trim a bit of length in the mirror. I've been wearing a version of this shoulder-length bob my whole life. It's nice to know I can do it at home if necessary.

Okay, enough gawking! I need to start painting my husband's dresser. Stop by Frugal Hacks if you have time. Today we're discussing cheerful frugality and the grocery budget.

I think it looks super cute, Meredith! I can't believe how brave you were and loved all your commentary and picture of the cut itself. :) Soooooo funny!

So what did your husband say? I've cut my own hair for years and only get it profesionally done about 2 times a year. Brave woman to have your son do it. I've never done that before!!

Meredith-
I think it looks very elegant and sophisticated. Your son did great:). and a good self-portrait, too!!!

Turned out cute! You are brave to let your son cut it ... :-)

We've simplified on the boys and dh's cuts: crew cuts, using a clipper kit that we bought at Sam's several years ago.

I don't trust myself or dh to cut my hair (I keep it short), but I have stretched my time between cuts to 8-10 weeks (from 4 when I was working), so I still do get mine cut.

I like it. :)

My hair gets cut maybe once every 6 months or so. If it's lucky! ;)

I cut my own hair, and have for years. Once a year, or so, I'll go in and have it done, but then I wonder why I pay for something that I have to come home and fix?!

I do a lot of contorting of my body as I lean forward, peer in the side mirror of the medicine cabinet, and crank my head around to see the back...so I think it should count as exercise points too!

Once, just once, I let my husband cut my hair. It wasn't so much the cut, it was the running commentary, "Oops!" "Oh,no. It's not straight there." "Hmm, maybe a little more off that side." "No, it needs a little less."
I cut my own bangs and every few months I undergo the torture of the cut at S----Cuts.

Too bad I don't live closer; I'd come over and have you cut my hair like that.
But, oh, yeah- I'm growing it out. I forgot.

Hi my Mom loves your blog and introduced me to it. Your hair looks really cute. My Mom cuts her own hair and my stepdad cuts mine. I don't think I have the coordination to cut my own hair. Well, atleast we save money in the long run right? :)

Looks cute!!! I cut my own bangs every few weeks, and my husband cuts the rest for me every few months. He does a great job, but I always need to touch up my bangs for a day or two after I cut them. I think your cut turned out great!

Looks great! I have hair to my waist and my hubby trims it and also my bangs. As long as we are both relaxed and not rushed it turns out great! I also cut his hair -that was a little harder to master but worth it. Cute picture! dee

Wow! It just turned out great. I had the scissors and towel in hand last night, and then chickened out. Did the ponytail really give you the undercut you need for a bob? That is my biggest problem right now. I have a similar shoulder length bob, but I have bangs (huge forehead to hide :)) and it seems like the last time I paid to have it cut the undercut didn't happen. So, now it is flipping all over 10 minutes after I blow dry! Would love it if I could do it myself.

I've trimmed my own hair one or two times. Since I have to curl my hair every day, any mistakes I make are easily covered up.

You are brave! LOL

I went the cheap route and have decided to grow out my hair. It is fun to learn some updos and ways to style it myself. I am enjoying learning about natural/thrifty ways to care for it too. If I ever need a trim I can do it myself since there are no fancy layers. Or I can just go the cheap barber and have them take off a 1/2"
