I barely see the boss at all (He's the head over all 250 or so people (and growing) at this location). And he knew my name!MommyLydiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15608956553350425075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12364613.post-1146063683782519012006-04-26T10:01:00.000-05:002006-04-26T10:01:00.000-05:00Ruth, thanks for the correction. Merchant Ships has done a great deal on a small budget. Of course, I am somewhat suspicious at the place I work the people may expense the assistant day gifts they get, so the company ends up paying for it, not the individual. Packages of fancy chocolates and potted plants are not at all unusual.

We've never been let go early though.MommyLydiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15608956553350425075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12364613.post-1146058335492597342006-04-26T08:32:00.000-05:002006-04-26T08:32:00.000-05:00Actually, it is Administrative Professional dayI j...Actually, it is Administrative Professional day

I just last week joined the organization that sponsors the holiday. And the name has changed a couple times over its history. http://www.iaap-hq.org/apw/apwindex.htm

That means it covers people like me (my official title is Project Assistant) as well as just those who directly support one/a small group of people. (There is also some politial correctness in it cause people don't like being called Secretaries anymore. Although, in our defense I will point out that the job seems to have expanded beyond what became known as a secretary. My mother edited her boss's papers, managed his budgets, etc when she was playing an equivalent role for him.)MommyLydiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15608956553350425075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12364613.post-1146055683220055142006-04-26T07:48:00.000-05:002006-04-26T07:48:00.000-05:00Vicki, he did well for $4 a person! We wanted to do something extra nice for my husband's assistant because she is truly the best one in the whole school and she's been dealing with the stroke and impending death of her mother during the past two weeks. : ( She is so thoughtful, you all would just love her.

Of course the fact that she's in her fifties and is a dead ringer for my MIL makes me a lot more secure with my husband having such a sweet assistant!Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08455517419708043340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12364613.post-1146053383664245622006-04-26T07:09:00.000-05:002006-04-26T07:09:00.000-05:00Great minds think alike! He got nice vases for just over $1 each at Michaels, and very nice bouquets from a local grocery for $3 each.

It was a little pricey, because there are four of them, but those women are worth gold to my husband, and to me!

We also bought baskets of lotion, soap, etc. on clearance after Christmas. They were $25 each, marked down to $7. Those are "in reserve" gifts for my husband's work. If nothing else, we'll use them as gifts for next Christmas.mothersonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05482672623267162930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12364613.post-1146051432255412562006-04-26T06:37:00.000-05:002006-04-26T06:37:00.000-05:00She will really appreciate the thought and care yo...She will really appreciate the thought and care you put into this!Monica Wilkinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17235919587298518908noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12364613.post-1146021102321780502006-04-25T22:11:00.000-05:002006-04-25T22:11:00.000-05:00How thoughtful!
