What to do with 8 duvet covers

Promise you won't hate me? Yesterday I bought 8 King duvet covers from Restoration Hardware.
For $12 total.

Whee! I was at a local thrift store (no, I'm not telling) when I spotted a $2 length of fabric unfolded on the floor. The helper thought it must be a futon cover and offered to get me a new one from the back.
"You have more?" I stammered. "I'll take them all."

Just then another woman insisted on buying them. The shop owner told her they were already sold--to me. I did let her buy one, for the sake of being polite. I don't believe in hoarding, especially for professional resellers.

"Those should sell well!" my husband noted when he saw the towering stack. "Too bad we don't have eight kids."
"Oh, no," I replied, as sweetly as possible. "I could never sell this treasure."
Y'all have been so patient, listening to me whine about beige walls and then being too lazy to paint them. I unwittingly followed my own frugal advice: procrastinate until you find the one thing that makes everything in the whole room work!
The colors in this pattern are so perfect with the existing wall color and the yard-sale rug. Can you believe I just glazed that armoire dark green and even painted its interior canteloupe orange, on a whim? I'm telling you, no one but God could deliver such perfect details on my teeny-tiny budget.
Eight king size duvet covers + clip on curtain rings = window treatments with no effort!

You know I'm a little jealous! God is so good. I can't wait to see those covers up as curtains and I just LOVE the pattern. Man, I wish we had some good thrift stores around here.

What a fabulous find--even if you tire of them after a year or two, they should sell for WAY more than you paid for them! Congrats :-)

Oh, I can NOT wait to see the pictures after you've got it all put together! What treasures. I too need to heed that procrastination advice (with a healthy dose of prayer too).
Congrats on the finds!

I wish we had good thrift/junk stores in my area. I am bless to have a husband that works at a furniture store and gets repo'd furniture for next to nothing (literally). Have a wonderful weekend.

I second (third? fourth?) the requests for pictures of new curtains on the windows! Great job!

Okay...I don't usually comment here, though I read your blog religiously, but I have to say that of all that you have posted, this one takes the cake!

Thanks for all your blogging. You are always challenging me to see beyond the obvious in these areas. Perhaps that is why I liked this particular post so much!

So, they sold them for < $2 apiece! (8 for $12, right? $1.50 apiece)

Sigh.... Meredith, I think I need to move to Nashville!! Honestly, the deals you scope out are unbelieveable! But, seriously, I am glad that God blesses you like this, because the experiences you share help me to keep trusting Him for our needs, too! And it goes without saying, I/we can't wait to see the finished product!!! ;-)

Meredith-

I just had to comment again. I just went to Restoration Hardware's website to price their Duvet covers, just to see what kind of bargain you got. Unbelieveable, Meredith!!!!! Their patterned, king size duvet covers run anywhere in price from $289.00 all the way up to $519.00. That means your duvet covers could be worth almost $4,200.00 had you paid full price for them!!! When people say that no one can live on just one income anymore, just show them this deal you got! God provides!
Happy for you-
Susan

Meredith!

I found something similar today ... not new with tags, so I don't know the brand. In fact, no tags at all, but ....

4 large, lined drape panels. Very large. And a pattern/color that are similar to yours, but even better for my house. (We have a burgundy loveseat). And they are lovely fabric.

She charged me $25 for the 4 of them.

The only problem is this: I don't have windows big enough for those drapes! But the fabric was too great to pass up.

Someday I'll post a pic and link to it. However, DH still has to load my camera software....

Ignore previous post... Yes, I did buy the drapes, but, no, they don't go as well as I had hoped. Both my future-interior-designer and DH agreed that they're just too busy for the living room.

Now I need to figure out what to do with many yards of nice drapes....DH thought maybe in the kids' rooms.
